Counter clockwise

>counter clockwise
Do Americans really say this?

what do you say?

What would you say? Reclockwise?

they say anticlockwise (and pronounce the anti as "ant-tee"

How else are you supposed to pronounce it?

"anti" has never been pronounced "an-tie" by a civilised human being. Go back to i-raq

ant-tie

you could also pronounce "anti" as in antithesis.

"Ay bruce dey clok go bakwerd"

Ew. You guys also say "eether" instead of either, which triggers me.

Counter cockwise

i say reverse clock movement

I say reverse counter anticlockwise

this is the only true way to say it

Greek doesn't even have a word for it.
You have to say "αντίθετα με την φορά του ρολογιού". Simply retarded.

I always thought Aussie toliets swirled counterclockwise.

Today I learned that they swirl anticlockwise.

What the fuck? I thought you guys basically invented geometry

This is a myth btw. Don't believe her lies

They steal it from ancient Egypt.

finnish proven as the GOAT language once again
>myötäpäivään
>vastapäivään

The correct form is "unclockwise" you absolute dolts.

what the fuck. you're not undoing a clockwise motion

>(and pronounce the anti as "ant-tee"
So do I and lots of Americans.

we say "daywise" and "counterdaywise"

We say " with the clock" and "against the clock"

>Irregardless
>Statue of limitations
>I COULD CARE LESS

posts like this are a diamond dozen

There are actually words for it.
αριστερόστροφα (left-turn-wise, "anticlockwise")
and
δεξιόστροφα (right-turn-wise, "clockwise").

And those terms are concerned the direction of the motion when you view them as if you were the hand of the clock (or as where the velocity vector points in regard to the position vector).
You don't really need a clock as reference to understand them, so imo they are better than those that refer to clocks, the sun, and real word objects in general. More abstract, more mathematical.

>not using turnwise or widdershins.

They got TURK'd

this

>unlike the clock
cute tb h

I say it ant-tee

It's google translate being google translate.
"Αντίθετα προς τη φορά του ρολογιού" means "Opposite to the direction of the clock".
But, is what people use.
Some math textbooks though actually use the clock term which is probably the publishers being dumb and translating everything from foreign languages word to word.

that is stupid, why do you associate the 'un-' morpheme with just action words? un- simply implies the negation or the opposite of something, it's not just attributed to verbs.
>unbelievable
>uncanny
>unforgettable
>uninteresting
>unlike
unclockwise makes perfect sense as it's being used as an adjective, suggesting a reverse motion of a clock.

>anti clockwise
so they are against the clockwise direction??
that's retarded

either way is acceptable. some say EYEther

anti- isn't just used in political or social movements you stupid brainwashed burger. is anti-freeze a movement made up of people who are against frozen things or freezing things?

not always. for example unsecure(d) vs insecure

those words mean two different things and besides, some morphemes won't work with other words like intuitive. it's accepted to say counter-intuitive, not unintuitive. it's not like un- loses it's meaning because of some irregular words here and there.

Just say "other-wise".

here anti- means undoing such as "unfreezing".
but in case of the clock you are not undoing anything.

insecure can also mean "not secure" such as insecure password.

>against the hands of the clock
