In America people are leaving the suburbs and building shit like this in every city. I admit it’s not amazing architecture, but it’s better than McMansion shit.
I wonder what Europeans/Latinos think of America’s newfound fondness for city life.
It’s nice to not depend on cars for everything like we used to.
In America people are leaving the suburbs and building shit like this in every city...
It's a good thing. Urban living is more sustainable than suburban.
>Europeans/Latinos
You realize this implies it's sort of a homogenous and interchangible thing, right? As if one could speak for the other?
>muh sustainability
It matters fuck all.
i can't see shit, post a larger image
Glad you agree.
Cry me a river grammar nazi we’re on the internet
The infrastructure for maintaining suburban sprawl is incredibly expensive so it means a lot financially. Right wing Americans always act like funding a bus route is socialism but the government has to spend way more on roads/highways for them to drive their SUVs on.
Well thats not shitty commie block and thats always good thing
>Cry me a river grammar nazi we’re on the internet
I'm not asking you to be better than you are. I'm just calling you stupid.
It’s the best I can do when I’m phoneposting.
The architectural details are nothing special, but the form is based on traditional western European buildings. ~5 stories, built right up to the sidewalk, maybe an office or retail on the bottom floor, upper levels are residential for privacy.
When somebody builds this in a neighborhood it becomes a lot nicer.
hopefully this means better public transportation
It does. Good development means transit becomes more feasible. It’s easier to run transit in a densely-populated area than in a sparse place like the suburbs.
Also good development invites further good development so a lot of these neighborhoods grow over time.
ugh looks like the typical suburb architecture we build nowdays, aka crypto-commieblocks
fucking hell looks exactly like Irvine, California.
all the architects learn the same shit today. No individuality or creativity
This. Most new buildings here in Seattle look like pic related, it's fucking disgusting.
>I wonder what Europeans/Latinos think of America’s
most people here live in commieblocks. having an american suburbs style house is considered making it in life and very few can pull it off
they are building these all over Florida. yes they are still made out of wood
wtf is traditional about that
Literally looks like any other soulless concret shoebox with windows they build here the last 60 years. Welcome to (((their))) utopia.
>pic very much related, a few of the building projects in my city right now
Nice, that size of building it's pretty common here, better space use and more comfy that areas filled with taller ones
looks like any other recently built apartment complex
Fuck that shit, living in little cubes stacked on top one another.
Where do I park my cars?
Where do I put my boats in winter?
Where do I grill my burgers?
Where do my dogs poop?
Where do I keep my snowmobile?
Where do I run my RC trucks?
I like to have bird feeders
I like to have a garden
i like seeing deer in my yard
I like having peace and quiet
It's really nice to have your own property for all that.
I am not going give all that away just so I can walk to the store
Bottom right looks best
move out of the city then
maybe you, but the soyboys of this era like "muh urban life XD"
>I am not going give all that away
>move out of the city then
This implies that I did, because I did.
>Bottom right looks best
Just because the whole right part is actually old. The new part is that disgusting looking square thing with too big windows on the left.
>pic related, they just build the middle left part new
Where do I park my cars?
in the garage
Where do I put my boats in winter?
in the dock
Where do I grill my burgers?
on the balcony or in the park
Where do my dogs poop?
on the ground
Where do I keep my snowmobile?
in the garage
Where do I run my RC trucks?
on the streets
I like to have bird feeders
on the balcony
I like to have a garden
too bad
i like seeing deer in my yard
its not that special
I like having peace and quiet
close the windows
>It's really nice to have your own property for all that.
I guess you don't agree
Why does it seem like the Netherlands is the only western country that hasen't adopted an ugly and depressing kind of architecture? Pic related is an example of a typical newly build houses. It's modern, and yet it has a distinctly Dutch feel to it.
>-b-b-but all muh toys
>how am I going to pretend I'm not a boring fat fuck If I can't larp like I'm still a roaming nomadic gypsy
literally a cross mix between british shit-brick houses and mcmansions
Looks like my dentists office
Not bad. Fits in apple that has more industry close to it. Let me see the surroundings.
doesn't look that bad
It's just urban hipsters that do this and they don't count as actual people.
looks like a commieblock
It's pretty decent.
Boring and ugly, nothing contemporary about it.
I think it’s a cost-saving measure desu.
Land in cities is really expensive, construction is really expensive. They have to make money somehow.
Not everyone has to live like you. And you need rural living for all that. Suburbs are a shitty mix where you don’t get a good neighborhood or the ability to grow food/animals or dock a boat. I welcome the end of suburbia and if people want all that shit they can move to the country.
Actually it’s a consistently growing trend over the last decade. For the first time, multi family construction has outgrown single-family in America.
American city centers are seeing increasing investment every year. Old neighborhoods are being revived too. It’s the opposite of white flight and it is not by any means only hipsters.
welcome to the 21st century
>Europeans/Latinos
Why? It's like saying Polynesians/Africans...
>I'm glad people are moving from the suburbs to the city. It's more sustainable.
So Americans are becoming European?
>I ignore science and can’t grasp basic accounting concepts
>>>/tumblr/
>maybe you, but the soyboys of this era like "muh urban life XD"
>this era
Try since the dawn of civilization.
Beats the hell out of this shit.
>those cars
Just when was this picture taken, 1993?
that's what we are going to achieve in next 10-20 years. Good choice. there would be good architecture as well.
Why would you want people living in the suburbs? It’s generic shit and costs the government an insane amount of money on infrastructure.
As opposed to what? An urban loft with a $5000 a month rent where some hipster shares a room with his trans buddy he met on Tumblr?
Until 20th century most of the population was living in rural areas, and moving in town was seen as a downgrade. At some turning point, I'd say between WWI and WWII, the tertiary sector became prominent and people started to move in town as an upgrade (which was imo the start of the current clusterfuck).
I now own an apartment in Lisbon and a small house in the Portuguese countryside
Through most of history there was nothing liberal about living in the city. In fact it was for the elites.
I live in a building similar to this, although it's not directly downtown (didn't have the pay grade for that this year.) It's 9000000x times better than suburban mcmansions. If my finances work out I might purchase one instead of rentfagging, but this time right downtown because I fucking despise the bus system here. Supposed to be every 15 minutes but I regularly wait 40-50 minutes for that fucking bus...
Who the fuck wants a commute when you could just walk like 5 or 10 blocks and be at work? No fuss no rush. Commutes are for retards and flyovers.
That's like 90% identical to my building. Commercial on bottom as well. I think it's /aesthetic./ Way better than a bunch of shitty single family houses sprawling the place up or a bunch of run down gas stations or mcdonalds huts with big parking lots surrounding them.
>wanting all that time wasting, money wasting nonsense
Fucking why? I can't be assed with all the bother about even a single car or a tiny dog, let alone all that 900 piles of shit. And I got better use for my money than blowing it on material goods.
My ideal life is being able to go downstairs and walk to my comfy skyscraper office job, walk to wherever else I want to go, and walk home. No fuss no bother. I despise the bus but rail is okay, above or below ground. I don't want to be pissed with 900 bills and repair and maintenance and driving 2 hours a day, lawn mowing and garden shoveling, dealing with raccoons in your trash, an entire giant shitty run down house with everything breaking all the time and need an electrician and a plumber and 900 other repair maintenance guys on call, and a whole garage of tools just to fix the rickety old shit.
Bruh yes absolutely fuck that shit. Fuck that.
Ladies and gentleman, the nu male outs itself.
>for having better shit to do than pour gasoline in a lawnmower and spend two hours pushing it around every saturday morning
Nah
