What are small towns and cities in your country like? Under 20,000 people only, please.
/town/
skagen, 8k people. it's a popular tourist destination so there's way more people in the summer
this is my type of thread, m8
full of old people, except for the summer, I guess?
Puerto Williams, 2k-3k inhabitants approx.
not anymore than the average 8k town
No way
They are clean and nice, immigrants doesn't want to move there as there's no clubs and beggars can't live there because of everything is more expensive and few give them money.
But it's comfy, user. When you live there you're basically in a community and everyone loves you :)
yeah that's what i meant. It just looks too picturesque to be real
life is boring there?
are Alands /comfy/ in general?
My town, Åre has around 1500 people. Very comfy, no crime and beautiful.
It's a ski resort in the winter and hiking center in summer so lot's of tourists.
Yes, it's like older scandinavia and most also behave that way.
No crime? Here they settle refugees in smaller towns, is that not the case in Sweden?
wew, another beautiful place and must be quite isolated
is your town served by railway btw?
Kinda. But the landscapes are pretty nice.
No, refugees refuse to live in small towns here.
That's why places like Malmö and other cities have troubles.
They have tried buy failed to relocate them around smaller towns but failed.
>is your town served by railway btw?
Yes, it's very much a railway town.
It's actually not that isolated thanks to all the tourists. But location wise, yes it is.
there's a story from a few years ago about a bus with refuges who refused to leave the bus when they stopped in a smaller town
Kragero. ~10k inhabitants.
love this early 2000's photo
Fjällbacka
Population 900
It's very quiet and holiday-ish like most the time. Feels like the entire place is a giant family.
People take their privacy very seriously here but love gossip.
It's a fun place to live though.
And like the other Swede's said, no crime and no refugees.
weeeew
would retire there/10
Looks English.
Rjukan. ~3.4k inhabitants. Because they're so deep in the valley, they apparently don't get a whole lot of sunlight for large parts of the year. Also a popular spot among ice climbers apparently.
They installed some huge mirrors high up on the mountain that shines light on the town square. Kinda cool, but also pretty pointless.
And here's the town square.
It was made in Italy too, for a town in the middle of Piedmont Alpes.
Nice square anyway.
Does my island town count??
yes
post a photo
can't it's night
That's pretty spooky
Álamos
10k inhabitants approx.
Fredrikstad, about 75K inhabitants
Mostly an industrial city, the poorest and least educated "larger" city in Norway. Inhabitants are stereotypically dumb, but very nice and outgoing, and I find that to be pretty accurate. Just an hour outside of Oslo with a large immigrant population. During winter it's shit, no snow, and during summer it's top comfy, with a great coastline and surrounding islands.
is it as comfy as it looks at this photo?
what about crime btw?
what % are Europeans?
It's ok, I went there a few months ago to a festival, walked the streets up and down and never felt unsafe.
I guess the average jose there is mestizo or mostly spanish, many american retirees live there aswell.
Boquete, Panama
Quiet little tourist town up in the mountains. It's a popular place to settle for American and European retirees.
I've always wanted to move out of the city into a small town... worried about work tbqh. My parents will also dislike my decision but... I think it would be the optimal life
bump
been there, nice place
really hate towns that were laid out on autistic grids
a town inhabited since pre-columbian times (it was an ayarmaca village until inca assimilation) along a river straightened by the incas
the view is from inca ruins above the town
same as in Belgium, but better streets.
Summerland, British Columbia. Lots of vineyards and apple orchards
Were is it? i thought it was England for a moment
Florence, Pinal County, Arizona. It's the state's prison town. It's also one of the safest towns in the entire nation.
10.144 residents
3k
Heaven on Earth.
Cividale del Friuli, around 11k inhabitants and UNESCO world heritage
17k
I like this bread
Wells. It has a city status, but only a population of 10,000. Probably most well known for its cathedral.
>What are small towns and cities in your country like? Under 20,000 people only, please.
full of pakis or eastern europeans, sometimes there can be a large gypo presence
Post more comfy towns
Filled with unemployment and meth.
San Daniele, FVG
Home of San Daniele ham
8k city
Cittadella, medieval fortified city in Veneto
20k city
forgot to say
View from inside
>Were is it? i thought it was England for a moment
Massachusetts. I went there all the time as a kid. My nana and her father lived in the barrier island off of the coast.
>3k
>Heaven on Earth.
I come from a town of 5k. The good news is everyone knows each other but that's also the bad news.
Its name is Pisac btw
Another one, Urubamba, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, it was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire, located inside the town are the remaining partial ruins of Quispiguanca, a royal estate of the Inca emperor Huayna Capac.
10.000 people here.
Supercomfy and close to a medium sized city
Mandi
Been there in 2002, comfy city
T. Terrone
port mcneill, 6k
>What are small towns and cities in your country like?
people live in trailers outside the city limits on the road in
there's two food franchises that are in every town
a native reserve is usually close by
a historic downtown area, filled with hipster shit, locals mostly shop in the box stores by the highway
Mine home town 22k
Simons town, near Cape Town
Small towns here are usually shitty, but not too shitty, and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed.
Pic is Karnobat, 18k

that's Belarus
my watch is from there
>Belarus
That's Russia
Knysna, a pretty comfy small town along the garden route
>small towns
Most of them are dying out hopeless shitholes ridden with poverty, crime, unemploynment and alcoholism. There are some exceptions though.
The picture was taken from a belarusian website, but it doesn't mean that's Belarus on the photo.
They are super comfy and in general look waaaay better than larger cities (keep in mind that even towns with 50k people were heavily bombed in the war) but they are also quite boring and many young people leave them to go to some bigger cities. There are jobs there, tho. Great thing about Germany not being centered around one very big city like for example France. Good example would be Herzogenaurach, a 20k town next to my city. They are the home of 3 global players (Adidas, Puma and Schaeffler Group) as a fucking town. Same for many small citys/big towns.
Oderzo, Veneto
>Quedlinburg.jpg
My best friend works in Quedlinburg as a doctor, it's really amazing to live in a place like this and have a well-paying job. Clean air, nice relaxed classic environment. Small towns are the best.
He still plans to return to Bulgaria at some point though, he doesn't have a social life there and says that Germans don't really make friends at work and feels like he will never fit in (even though he can easily pass a a German in appearance).
I would also rather live in my 30k home town than Sofia, but unlike Germany most of the good jobs here are pretty much concentrated in the capital.
Yeah, I plan to move to such a place once I am a bit older. Right now I live in middle of a big city which is quite nice, but raising kids here? No thank. Good thing is that there really are paying jobs there. The lowest unemplyoment and the richest town are actually far in the south of Germany, quite a bit away from the next bigger city.
>Germans don't really make friends at work and feels like he will never fit in
Yeah, you keep most friends from school/uni. Creating a real friendship while working is kinda hard. I guess especially as something like an doctor. (guess it is easier when you have a shitty job that you can domplain about all the time with your coworkers)
Did he try to get in contact with Germans, tho?
Gf is Russian and has the same problem. Cries she has no German friends but then tells me that in Uni she sits all the time with her Russian friends and talks Russian. I always ask her what she expects, that some German comes up to them and asks them to please speak German so he can join their conversation?
>pic related a place were I could see myself living at in 10 years
Not him, but look in central sardinia villages. The mayors in that area often give houses for free if you promise to take care of them (some reconstruction, living there, etc.)
Top comfy and hot chicks, internet is doable w/ satellite
bump
What's the easiest way to go to Quedlinburg, train or car?
Well, it is just a town without ICE connection...
They do have a train station, but I just checked it, seems to be pretty shitty to get there. Even from the nearest bigger city (seen from your side) Hannover you need to change the train once and need 2 1/2 hours overall for the 150km. By car you need 1 1/2 maybe.
>another qt town, Meersburg, located directly on the Bodensee
My pic related is rural as frig, and you can be left well alone if you want. But you're right, I doubt I could toke there without everyone knowing within a week
thank you. and Meersburg is really expensive.
And probably too boring to live there, but it looks really nice. Around 20k is a good size for a town I would say.
barely over 20k
>>Lindau
You cannot afford rent there. Its extremely expensive.
The problem probably is to get something there at all. Just found one to rent there and while it is expensive it is not total crazy. Not worse than Munich or Hamburg.
