Most Dutch middleclass areas are defined by being relatively new. They often use either darker or lighter bricks than standard neighborhoods and usually have small single homes or those 2 family houses.

It depends a lot though on how far west you are. Nearby Amsterdam for example all the houses will be stitched together while a middle class neighborhood in the east or north is much bigger.

I got no idea what the margin on houses is. But yes it took a long time to realize that.
Mainly because people were concerned about safety of the inner city in America. But after the 2009 recession, for the first time, Americans started building more multi family than single-family (suburb) homes. And every year they build more and more in the city center.
Actually most American city centers are built up at this point, people are building more in other neighborhoods of the city. So it’s like a cross between living in a suburb and the downtown apartment.
Once hipsters moved in the city and made the area marginally more safe everyone immediately cashed in

Here our income is above average but some personal problems have fucked our finances. A family can lead a good life here with about 12k usd. Though you eould never get the suburb comfy a middle class due to huge population, wealth gap and the same quality of life of the first world.

It's probably considering the net wort: most people here have a property house; it's extremely rare to live in a rented one. I discovered it isn't so common elsewhere
