I see sheriffs department guys in the city, and these guys out by my area.
DNR has same authority as police plus the enforce hunting and fishing rules.

Whats difference between sherif and police

Good question.
I think it has to do with the areas they can have authority.
Sheriffs deputies are limited to their areas, patrol police or city police can go outside their areas and work.
I'm not sure tho

Typically police are city-level while sheriff's departments are county-level with it's head (the sheriff) being an elected position. Obviously can vary based on state but I think that's the most common distinction.

Sherif('s deputies) - county level law Enforcement, who are under direct command of the Sherif, the top law enforcement officer in the county, which is an elected position

Police - City level law enforcement

Some counties have County Police as well. The different between the County police and the Sherif is really getting into a whole bunch of administrative bullshit.
