In the last (fifa) World Cup i said i was mostly rooting for Argentina for new world/Americanas stick together type shit but he said he was rooting for Germany cause we’re about half German mixed with some other smaller things. My reason is cringey too and I didn’t have anything against Germany I like their team but I did stick with my choice.
I mainly follow rugby so for example I’m always rooting for teams from the Americas before all else, ie uruguay USA Canada & Argentina.
