user, I studied the same and totally understand how you feel. This is what I would do if I were you:
Keep studying, but do not sacrifice personal happiness because of that. These should be if not the best, one of the best years of your life. Priority number one should be fucking and personal improvement to fuck even more, I am serious.
Do stuff of your own. The theory they teach in the Uni is useful but the market needs and is interested in other things. Develop stuff that interests you with other guys.
Don't have the pressure of "you need to finish the studies/you need to pass this subject by this time". You don't. The market don't care if you really finished, they care for your experience. I would hire a guy that can show me and prove how good he is over titles - that's why personal and technical tests exist - and you can go on interviews that "require" titles, just do not lie about them. I did not finish mine, I left one year sooner and don't regret it. Don't regret starting it either, though.

You're right that the US has MORE good schools.

"A good horse doesn't jump higher than it has to". I study the exact same and I'm also in my 2nd Semester. Try to weed out all the classes nobody gives a shit about and score grades so that you can maybe follow up with a master, but don't waste tons of hours to score a top grade (imho). Otherwise try to connect to older semesters, they may have already finished internships etc. and can reccommend you. A good internship is worth it. Thanks to a friend I'm probably going to work half a year for Siemens and earn a full wage. Maybe you can also try to show off with certs, the HarvardX, Uni of Helsinki for example. Just my 2 cents.

Ah btw, for every person that maybe is about to start uni in the near future. Be quick, socialize the first few days and try to weed out people that are doomed. You don't wanna be put in a group with those. Better try to find people that finish everything on time and align with your own ideals. Bad groupprojects can fuck your motivation in the ass.

Best investment I made is a Convertible, annotating directly in the PDF was a massive gamechanger for me. I tend to be too lazy to go through all my papers before exams and summarize it. This way I have my pdf with the annotations in it. All neatly sorted and instantly uploaded to my nextcloud.
