this is post crypto user...

So that settles it, Jow Forums is completely overrun with newfags and normies, and since you all know nothing at all this board is now worthless.

There was no Jow Forums before crypto.
Now get the fuck off of our board.

Thank you, so when did Jow Forums start 2010-11ish?

Nah, it's one of the newest boards. Wasn't made til 2013, when crypto threads got out of control on other boards, mostly Jow Forums.

Interesting, don't know why i assumed it existed before around then desu. Thanks

I actually don't mind you asking the questions, because you don't pretend to know or have more knowledge than you do, and you actively seek to learn.

I have a problem with the asswipes that post on the board pretending to know, or using our memes to spread their autism to us.
Jow Forums is circa 2013 and initially was about 20% crypto (this is actually a stat i have saved from the time). There were far more posts about ACTUAL methods of making money that didn't include 'investing' in overbought meme coins with little generic value.

We all knew that you couldn't put the cat 'back in the bag' so to speak, but that didn't stop people from claiming that Bitcoin mining apps and blockchain in general was a scam, and that there were keyloggers in everything crypto related.

Jow Forums had some pretty knowledgeable individuals lurking on it, and you'd be surprised the kind of depth that could be found (insider trading knowledge on stocks, etc...)

I think we found the biggest faggot to ever be on the internet

There was a Molybdenum mining company here that was a huge fucking meme for a while, then it collapsed and took out a lot of NEET's meager savings.

>hey guys just found this, do you think it's safe to eat? also frugal thread

Everyone is a fucking liar. There was hardly any crypto threads in 2015 and 2016 unlike the shit we see today. I was there. It was NOT the main discussion on this board. And whenever someone shilled a shitcoin, it was usually ignored because everyone thought it was a scam.
I remember the progression when it went from 1 new coin shilled in a month, then 1 new coin shilled in a week, then 1 new coin shilled in a day, then 5 new coins shilled in a day, and it kept going fucking up to the point that a new era of Jow Forums blossomed—the era which you are seeing today, where every thread is about crypto.

Yea, and that early Jow Forums I've seen described is what I'd really be inerested in now. I've been on here just about daily for the for a month or two but
and was initially pretty into crypto but actual methods of making money and business/econ discussion rather than meme coins seems a lot more interesting.

I honestly probably ignore 90% of Jow Forums threads as is. I've bought what I'm interested in for now and shill posts for mem coins aren't interesting after the 5th read through of the same content over again

youtube.com/watch?v=yUpk3NuLkLU
pretty much

Honestly definitely safe. Just not preferable to eat that much pizza, it'll fuck up your body flow. Try making you own granola out of tree bark and honey instead. very cost effective as trees are nearly anywhere today

Are you into crypto Jow Forums or not as much?

That's true, but Jow Forums is also much faster today than it was then. Over half the posts ever made were between October of last year and now.

2016 was the year where 90% of posts on this board were about ethereum. Sounds like you were just too dumb to buy it when it was $5.

And for an enough more stark comparison: it took over two years to get to one million posts; two million was only reached a year ago. The last million took us two months.

*even more

Luckily for me, I still appreciate crypto Jow Forums. The overall quality of information on threads are not as good as they used to be, but the memes make it worthwhile to stick around. This board still makes me laugh.

True.

I didn't even read 99% of crypto posts back then. I ignored all crypto posts and assumed all altcoins were a scam/PnD whenever they were mentioned. Fast forward to early 2017, It took me until when ETH hit $50 that I was CONVINCED I had to take cryptocurrency seriously. I thought to myself, "money is money, and I REFUSE to miss the next Bitcoin."

>didn't exist

I've been on this board something like 2-3 years. Before crypto, there were a lot of threads about dropshipping, stock trading, and retarded business ideas

"buy kneepads" was a common response to any advice. Instead of Blockfolio, people would post their Robinhood stocks.

Slowly, the crypto threads started creeping in, there was a lot of shilling for DigiByte and PotCoin. The oldfags wanted the "cryptokiddies" to leave and some went as far as filtering out any threads mentioning crypto.

As we can see, we know who eventually won out. I can say from experience that Jow Forums is actually much better now.

It's like dropshipping for your insides. Just think of the bark as BTC and the honey as LINK. Long story short don't eat more than a slice or two of pizza at a time user, it's not good and you'll lose your hair

Stop eating trash user, go to costco and buy fruit.

It’s impossible for there to be a post crypto since crypto is the literal unironic future

Jow Forums was a containment board to exit crypto people from Jow Forums and Jow Forums. So it was always crypto. During the big post-gox bear market there was othere shit like droppshipping, affiliate marketing and freelancing - but honestly most people still bought and held crypto. Those people are now mostly retired....

After crypto? Our children hunt mutant lizards with their handmade flint spears in the destroyed remnants of the world I imagine. We'll tell them legends about Jow Forums, the pantheon of bogs, sminem, the tales and lessons of wojack and gug, the battles of corecucks vs cashies & to hail great Kek before all else.

>Jow Forums was a containment board to exit crypto people from Jow Forums and Jow Forums
>So it was always crypto.

total bullshit from a newfag, I clearly remember this board years ago before there were any crypto threads

what's a costco

Jow Forums lore says it was set up as a containment board for crypto discussion. Early Jow Forums had lots of stock threads, "robin hood generals", resume advice, there was a salesman who gave primo advice threads on how to be a better salesman, and lots of NEETs asking how to become rich in 2 weeks using only 15 dollars, their sister's panties, and a ball of lint. To which the answer always was "kneepads".

But this guy is right about old Jow Forums

I think it was around the days of Trumpcoin that it started becoming crypto saturated, that was one of the first aggressively shilled coins

when LINK moons, there wont be a biz. it will be reddit tier because of the reddit refugees trying to find the next moonshot because *Jow Forums* says so

kek. I remember the Bitbay threads and PIVX threads. didnt make anything of it because I was ballls deep in ETH

I don't know, what will the stock market be post-penny stocks?

It's been going alright, but in hindsight I wish I could have done much better. At least I've been able to make a living off of trading crypto.

There's many things I've learned over time, but here's some things I think is important to mention—
If you KNOW another coin is imminent to moon but the coins you currently hold are in losses, SELL those coins and buy the mooning coin. Eat the losses. It doesn't matter since you'll get back some of those losses (maybe even all your losses).
When researching a coin, consider these things: Is it good tech to begin with? If yes, are there any other coins like this? If yes, how aware are other people about this coin compared to other coins or the top coins? How does the price compare to other coins like this coin? Bonus: Is it memeable? Is there STRONG meme potential?
One more thing I learned, NEVER be lazy at ALL COSTS. I learned this one the hard way in September 21st when I heard word of good news from Minereum (complete shitcoin by the way however). My laptop was deep inside my luggage and I didn't feel like taking out all the stuff and bringing it out, so I left it in the luggage. By the evening, I check Minereum's price on my phone and it went up by at least 100%+ that same day. Something like that. I missed out on THOUSANDS of dollars.

Solid hits? My hits were okay, but I wish they could have been better. My best hit in one shot was $20k.

> What was Jow Forums pre crypto?

It was called Jow Forums and we mostly just talked about how Gentoo GNU+Linux is the best OS.

> What will Jow Forums be post crypto?

There probably wont ever be a 'post-crypto', but while capitalism deteriorates and eventually collapses in the next couple decades, I imagine Jow Forums will die as idle income wont really be a thing without a state apparatus to maintain a disparity between control of and access to capital. Though it might turn into basically a board for understanding cryptocurrencies and managing personal finance rather than speculating on capital.

Unironically this. Tfw autistic an-caps (often from Vietnamese knitting forums) invent crypto economics, solve UBI and resource distribution, basically achieve all the goals of communism without the coercian or destruction of individuality or general sanctimonious faggotry.

Attached: patrick.gif (245x240, 494K)

Well no, that sounds ridiculous. Cryptocurrencies don't magically create UBI or channels of resource distribution. It's just an asset that cant be [directly] manipulated with monetary policy, which can also be programmed. It's a pretty good deal for the already super wealthy who can use it as a hedge in the somewhat likely situation that the traditional finance markets collapse as a result of monetary policy over extension.

Between the impending collapse of fiat, increases in costs of food and water as a result of climate change, and the gradual increase of economic pressure as a result of labor automations, we'll probably see a point at which the frustrations of the slave class well into spontaneous global unrest which will become difficult if not impossible to govern. If that sort of global diffuse uprising isn't put down (something easier said than done) then property owners will have a hard time maintaining control of the land they lease access to and the entire speculative market will come crashing down as its dependent on alienated commodity production to fuel the mad gainz

actually, its kind of weird to say 'we'll see a point', as we're already at a point where we're seeing that sort of perpetual spontaneous unrest across the globe. We'll eventually reach a point where the gradual build of frustrations make speculative markets untenable, though.

I member that too user. Most crypto discussion existed within a general, but the board was born because of crypto.

It was stocks you newfag shilling shit stocks just like these shit coins penny stocks saw lots of shilling

Bitcoin was the only crypto and only needed one or two threads. The rest was legitimate financial, stocks, venture discussion. Then a couple years ago alt coins became a thing and bitcoin sky rocketed a few times. Then the 2016 election happened and Jow Forumsyp redditbros washed ashore after being redirected here incessantly.
