Mexico supported the Spanish republic, when it got destroyed by the Spanish state we refused to accept it, broke relations and even considered invading Spain during their civil war to further aid the republic.
We had no relations with them until the king did the reconciliation thing and we accepted it as well.
That’s why we don’t have that special US UK relation, the current Spanish government was not the one we supported.
