Space has always been hailed as the last free frontier of man, no one owns planets. Mars had the opportunity to be a turning point in human history, cultures setting aside their differences and quarrels to focus on the common goal of moving into the last frontier. With Mars being a private interest endeavor I can see this becoming shadow run style corporate law and government, acting out of corporate interest as opposed to humanities interest.
