Why does the Caspian Sea have so little beach tourism compared to the Black Sea or the Mediterranean, Jow Forums? Compared to its potential, it seems really, really under-developed.

No one wants to do it.

Why?

its located in the middle of nowhere

Iran, the Caucasus and the South of Russia have people. You set up Sochi on the Black Sea, why don't you set up a sea resort on the Caspian Sea too?

>why don't you set up a sea resort on the Caspian Sea too?
Too hot.

>Iran, the Caucasus and the South of Russia have people
Yeah, type of people who will cut your head off, while you sleep.

Turkmenistan is trying!

Where? In Dagestan?

The entire east is a desert. Iran isn't a well developed tourist location. Former Soviet countries dump tons of fertilizers through rivers causing algae blooms there. The non fertilizer Russian part that could be used is Dagestan, so no thanks. Most of the Azerbaijan coast is marshland pr also wasteland. Baku, Azerbaijan is the only place that could work in a Dubia sort of way, but the city itself has no beaches. So the Caspian Sea is surrounded by mostly wasteland and is full of algae. Pic related is chlorophyll concentration. Red is higher

Turkey is one of the most popular beach tourism destinations in the world. Is southern Russia really that different?

Exactly like the Egyptians, yet Egypt has several sea resorts.

Yeah i bet many people want to visit literal north korea 2.0 where they sell a fucking bread only if u have a passport

Yes.
Egypt is used to tourists now. Want to be pioneer tourist of Dagestan then go ahead, I'd rather stay to civilized places.

Look at the geography and population distribution of Russia. It's not a good beach location. Turkey has a massive coastline with favourable geography and massive cities on the waters edge. Russia does not have any of those.

That's because beaches aren't the only places you could visit in Egypt (Hint: Napoleon visited one of these)

Because the only countries surrounding it are shitholes

Too far away from large European tourist pops. Full of Muslims, Iran and Russia aren't very Western friendly.

>Russia does not have any of those.
We've got Sochi. I've traveled there last year, honestly it's pretty similar to Turkey.

Because the chance of disappearing if you're a weathly American there is probably like one in then thousand.

Fuck that we have the Florida keys, Hawaii, Carribean and other shit idk we own a shitload of islands

>Russia aren't very Western friendly.
Ask any world championship fan. Stop your russophobic propaganda.

he's right you slavshit, our state TV shits on west 24/7

>selfhating russian episode

I think the priority in Russia is to develop river beaches near cities. Cities like Saratov and Samara. They have large rivers that warm up quickly in summer, and they already have airports for domestic tourists. The Caspian is too unfamiliar to most people for big new resorts. But many Russians already take river beach holidays, so it's nothing new.

you are eurphobic

Because it's fucking dangerous being there.

We despise EU but are friendly to westerners visiting our cunt.

Eventually southern Russia will be flooded because of polar ice melting and there will be tons of great beaches there.

you'll notice water is empty except for some people soaking in the shallow. River beaches are a terrible tourism idea because swimming in a river is nowhere as pleasant as the sea. You'll have some locals who dont have better things to do, and that's about it.

Ask any western tourist which is not came here by the fifa fan passport how it was to get a Russian visa? Its not propaganda, its fact: getting a Russian visa for a westerner is quite a quest.

>I think the priority in Russia is to develop river beaches near cities
All this river beaches in cities are attended only by locals. So there are no needs to develop this beaches cause locals would attend them anyway if weather is hot, and people won't come there from other regions cause river beaches sucks.

>Surf Dagestan

We do, the entire coast of Black Sea.
They're trying to do that with Crimea too.
