Do are Swiss and Norway the Ugly Duckling of Europe ? They are not in the EU family. How do you feel about that ?

Fuck off, we're full.

They actually pay a yearly sum to the EU.

How are they not in the EU? They are not allowed to turn back any EU citizens coming there. EU citizens can get a job there, study in their universities, use their pensions, sell them products all without restrictions.

look at you being poorer than a muslim shithole

why if they are not in it?

Blue eyes? Blonde?

They are in the Schengen area just no EU

Economic treaty, free trade and such.
Dont worry, we are fully autonomous, and intend to stay that way.

There's the EU and there's the EEA, Norway is a part of the EEA which stands for the European Economic Area.

remember to add a (EU) suffix when addressing "countries" in the EU

Because they more or less are, up to various degrees.
Norway is pretty much a EU member without voting rights. They're part of the EEA which means that they follow EU laws and regulations without having a saying in them.
The only real exception is that they have their own fishing rights (which is why they were never in the EU) but they effectively are in the EU.

Switzerland is more complicated. They too are part of the common market and they too have to accept EU citizens working there, living there and retiring there but have a different relationship since they have some treaties with the EU rather than being part of the EEA. Once again effectively they are an EU member too, but to a lesser degree.

Norway pays the EU money though to be part of this Economic Area.
They are not autonomous, lol. They have to comply with any sort of laws made by the EU that concerns the common market.

>Norway is pretty much a EU member without voting rights. They're part of the EEA which means that they follow EU laws and regulations without having a saying in them.

imagine being this cucked of a country (NO)

>They're part of the EEA which means that they follow EU laws and regulations without having a saying in them.
We only have to follow the EU laws related to trade.

My eyes are like pic related but more green instead of the blue and I have light brown hair

Attached: 28d7f8_11_.jpg (400x200, 10K)

>trade
And of course freedom of movement.
Look up the laws the EU makes. Most regulations have to do with the common market.

we're a country of 5 million people, we wouldn't have had any meaninful influence whatsoever. least this way we won't be fucked over by tariffs or have our oil stolen.
denmark (EU) is in the same boat, but you instead chose willingly to be subjugated by brussels while we twice voted no to joining that monstrosity of a union

>And of course freedom of movement.
That's not because of the EEA, but because of we're a part of the Schengen Area.

>They are not autonomous, lol. They have to comply with any sort of laws made by the EU that concerns the common market.

what?
only trade laws then, right?

>Norway is failing to live up to its obligations as a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), including imposing extra taxes on EU products and not implementing more than 400 directives, according to an EU report
euractiv.com/section/trade-society/news/eu-threatens-to-punish-norway-for-breaching-eea-agreement/

We implement, and do what we want, like we always have.
Sue us, seem like the only threat brussels can make.

>when you (NO) can fish however you (NO) like but still have to pay and follow the rules of the union you (NO) voted no to twice

Outdated

>That's not because of the EEA, but because of we're a part of the Schengen Area.
What? No, you're wrong here. The EEA guarantees freedom of movement. Schengen only applies to border controls. You can have freedom of movement but still have border checks (ie Britain).
Contrary to popular believe almost any law made by the EU applies to the common market or the freedoms of the EU. They don't make laws like 'drunk driving should be prohibited' but instead determine that cars sold in the EU have to come with an alcohol check. In that case, the law applies to Norway too.
What are you trying to say here? There are special courts which determine whether or not Norway and other EEA members their laws are conflicting with EU laws. In case they do, you will have to change them by your own law.

>Moreover, the EU also dislikes the fact that Norway has rejected several directives coming from Brussels. The Norwegian government has for example warned it won’t implement the EU’s postal directive about competitiveness for letter mail weighting less than 50 grams.

Why do you feel the need to lie danskjaevel? Compensating for your lack of mountains?

>haha we do not implement a EU directive which regulates mail letters weighting less than 50 grams, BASED AND REDPILLED NORWAY!
Do you see how silly this is?

How is Iceland so high?

You seem to be under the impression the Eu can force us to implement changes to our laws. That is wrong and we have never entertained a foreign entity to have such power.

Brussels may give directions and we might implement those for common gain or show of good faith. But we continue to reject changes that would hurt Norway. That is autonomy.

Often these things are skewed in some ways. You can go to those countries and notice people don't even have as much wealth as your country does.
Ireland is a great example.

The EU cannot force you to change your laws. There is a supernational court between the EU and Norway which can make rulings about whether or not Norwegian laws are in conflict with the EEA treaty you signed.

The EU cannot change anyone's laws. But failure to comply with EU law can result in sanctions.

>But failure to comply with EU law can result in sanctions.
But so far they've on threatened us, but never followed through with it.

Ireland I read get a lot from huge companies moving there for lower taxes.

Yeah that's why GDP Nominal is often not the greatest indicator of wealth. Netherlands too is sometimes massively inflated because of a lot of money moving through this country without impacting our economy.
Because so far Norway has never done anything to obstruct the core principles of the EU.
Switzerland once had a referendum about migration, which goes against the freedom of movement. Before they could implement anything Swiss students were barred from Erasmus and their government backed down.
