Well America purposely let Soviets occupy eastern europe and later also invade Czecho(slovakia) so that the Soviets would be right on the doorstep of western europe and they would have no other choice but to submit to Daddy America and let it pretty much control western europe.
The same way America backstabbed and indirectly destroyed Britain through Suez crisis later.
But the thing is that western europe being tamed and controlled by an outside superpower, so it wouldn't attack the east, benefited the Soviet Union too so it was probably one of those things that the Soviets and Americans were 100% agree on.
