To be very honest with you on this topic, they smuggle cheese mostly because there is irrational stereotype about european goods being much better than local ones. Although your regulations are much stricter and general quality is no doubt much higher there is nothing in your shop that can't be find in 80% of regular russian shops and all this situation is mostly about stereotypes tho you won't tell if russian and finnish oltermanni have any difference in their tastes (I've been to Finland several times and I know what I'm talking about).

No it isn't about that at all. When we had imported finnish cheese in our shops it was like two times cheaper than it is now. Inflation and shit, i know that but the price shouldn't increase 100%.
Also there are tons of all kinds of food from alcohol to dairy to meat products that you can't find in local stores but can easily buy in every single finnish grocery store, and domestically made alternatives always taste like rubber, contain way more saturated fats and cheap sugar wherever possible AND more expensive as well.
