China is more interested in being less reliant on the Malacca strait chokepoint for 70% of their energy imports and more interested in being self sufficient for energy, something the US is already near to being.
India's doing the same thing, because in the eyes of a rising regional power, the more self sufficient and less reliant on energy imports you are, the better off you are when conflict happens. Neither of them actually give a shit about climate change.

It has been proven that global warming may actually BENEFIT the world because of all the energy and gas that will be saved since people won't need as much heating as before.
It's just that fatties and ice cream factories need to stop using such enormously large cooling systems.
Also melting ice may make it possible to extract more oil and other natural resources that are burried deep down and are not reachable now.

The West are the ones who patrol and protect the major world trade routes. Inventing climate change and convincing countries to use clean, renewable energy instead of the oil and fossil fuels they currently control and protect would cause frankly hilarious amounts of political sway to be lost.

But France, Germany and Britain are all so far behind on cleaning shit up that they're being fined in international court. Sweden is like the only country that painlessly went green and then just moved on.

Why are so afraid? Nuclear fusion is near to become a thing, there are a shit ton of companies investing and creating nuclear fusion plants. Once all the technical difficulties are solved we will be able to have cheap, almost infinite and clean energy.
