the only conditions that would make it humane are breeds that are genetically healthy out of human needs, yet for the majority of people:
-Dogs that are owned often display traits bred for entertainment or out of interest, not any sore of interest for the animal's well being -These same dogs often display health issues in their lives and live essentially in perpetual suffering for the entertainment/cute factor for their owners. -even more absurd: their sexual organs are often mutilated to control their "nature" and breeding impulses, and this betrays the inhumane nature of modern pets. -Instead of considering the factors involved on whether you should own a pet, people often just buy them out of "cute" reasons, as opposed to say adopting, and often are willing to put the pet through procedures like castration just to keep the "cute dog" around.
Like I said, so as long as it's a breed with no genetic defects bred on purpose, it's still somewhat better, but I can't imagine castrating an animal, and then still claiming it's a "loyal" companion and that it "loves" me or something
it just sounds like cope from someone that doesn't actually understand loyalty or companionship.
my dog is a healthy pure-bred wheaten terrier, and not castrated. most people I know haven't castrated their dogs, and they have no breed-related health issues. why are you saying the majority of people mistreat them? where are you getting this from?
David Davis
you don't bring any substantial arguments and bring only insults, which really does describe a person that would just buy some animal and pet and ignore all the inhumane procedures that the pet would go through just to have it as a "oh wow my pet really loves me :)))))"
dog's don't have the capacity for complex thought as much as humans do, they don't rationalise that you've destroyed their chances of genetic propagation, they get scared of the white room with the whiterobed men...
It's pretty obvious you have no experience in owning dogs.
Jack Gomez
it's not common here at all, no. people mostly do it with cats since they roam freely
Julian Roberts
i mean, just googling it seems like a common procedure in america
even so, is that humane? clearly as a owner one should take measures outside of going directly to neutering, even if the dog does'nt rationalize it, reading some articles it seems like in europe people at least go for properly training their dog instead of castration as a first option.
Anthony Myers
it's not really my point, I just find the whole concept of being a "pet lover" to be very shady given how the concept of a pet has moved beyond an animal assisting humans to beings essentially bred for our amusement
if castration is done before puberty, it will supress hormone production and the dog wont get a breeding impulse as strong as usually. Esentially, as long as the procedure is relatively painless, i dont see what's inherently inhumane about it. As ive said, the dog's mind isn't complex enough to rationalise what it's missing.
I mean sure, but it still feels like I'd be misusing the trust the dog has in me
Jaxson Wright
We're going in circles. Obviously if you take a knife to his balls, the dog will hate you. But being an otherwise good owner and forming a good relationship with your dog, as well as taking care of him in a responsible way will not really impact his trust of you from that one visit to the veterinarian which he won't completely understand anyway...
Benjamin Ortiz
sure, but is it really ok to do things to animals so as long as they don't understand what's going on?
But castrating dogs has the effect of eliminating unwanted dog pregnancies which can often result in unwanted dogs being send to a dog shelter to get euthanised, becoming stray dogs or even getting DIY euthanised at home. A simple, quick procedure can eliminate a lot of pain down the road.
Robert Collins
It is effective, but why not be a owner that would prevent these incidents?
I mean, female dogs don't just appear out of nowhere unless you let your own dog stray, right?
Even with a very obedient dog, the chances are he'll someday run off into the woods while you're taking a walk and who knows what happens..
Of course, you could have him permanently leashed or caged, but I don't really see how that would be more humane.
Hudson Morales
Imagine being a male who cannot get laid during his entire life and can't even masturbate for relief.
Now imagine what your hormones would do with you in such circumstances.
I hope now you understand why it's sometimes important to castrate dogs and other pets.
Although I don't support that shit it may made them less aggressive.
Jordan James
I mean, I don't think there'd be that much of a coincidence, I'm not implying you should leave your dog caged or leashed but it is normal to walk your dog right? With a leash at least
because the happiest a dog will ever be is around human beings
Grayson Russell
I do get that part, but i'm pretty sure dogs do masturbate
Oliver Martin
Well here, there's a law that a dog needs to be on a leash when outside, otherwise you get fined.
But honestly, when I take my dog for a walk out in the countryside, I don't leash her and she obviously enjoys it, as she runs across literally half the forest while I just walk along the path.
Justin Reed
That's great but I don't think the chances of her meeting a male dog and then getting impregnated are that high, right?
Or am I underestimating the stray dog problem
Gavin Foster
Unfortunately, no, they can't do it the same way humans do and don't experience the same effects.
Kayden James
>human >dogs
Animals are amoral and cannot have moral rights or duties. Do you want to start throwing tigers in jail for mauling deer?
is it wrong? it seems to show the effects are somewhat similar
Camden Taylor
It's a forest next to a few villages and people have loads of dogs, she constantly interacts with them.
Could be the other way around as well, she's free to hang out in front of the house, but every now and again, a neighbour's or passerby's dog comes to hang out.
Charles Hernandez
Yeah I guess in that situation it makes sense, given you live in the countryside right
I guess to sum it up I can't take people that exclaim to love pets :)))) and ascribe humanizing features to them seriously if they ignore all the simple facts that we carry out actions that, if done to humans (breeding for entertainment, direct population control and inbred-servility) would be considered extremely inhumane, especially with how their not same level of being a "free animal" as say a wolf is
But thanks for clearing stuff up as well, guess my rant is over
