what do you think of Finnish Midsummer? It's called Juhannus here. Do you celebrate Midsummer in any way?
youtu.be/O2tinqjEfqw
that video is tryhard af but still shows some traditions we have. The most important one is the bonfire "juhannuskokko" though.

>Do you celebrate Midsummer in any way?
no, i don't know what that is

also Juhannus is the most alcohol related celebration there is. Every year there are several people that die celebrating Juhannus by getting shitfaced and then drowning in a lake. Around 6-12 people usually, the newspapers publish the number and it's common for people to make bets of the death count before the day

nothing wrong with yellow fever

somewhere around 4000-6000

objectively incorrect

watch the video then. We get hammered, burn a bonfire by a lake, go to sauna, get more hammered in the process and finally drown ourselves

cinco de mayo (may 5th) commemorates the battle of puebla where mexico won over france in their attempted invasion of the country in the 19th century. it's not really celebrated here in mexico, though, only in the state of puebla where it happened and i think it's just like a day off there and that's it.

for some reason chi's in america celebrate it, with drinking and stuff, though. they don't seem to know what it stands for or anything, though.

those are all presidential candidates
why the fuck didn't we get america do something like this with Trump?

I remember my mexican/chi coworkers specifically saying they dont celebrate it, its just an excuse to drink all day

ohhh that seems stupid kek
any other celebrations?

Attached: 1523750159795.jpg (340x433, 21K)

>they don't seem to know what it stands for or anything, though.
We do, literally every fucking cinco de mayo there's some ass (or the news) that brings up it's true meaning, no one cares we just like excuses to drink heavily

lel wtf
why? seems very random to make and anime for this

why? that's degenerate

not really, the only real unique thing we have is day of the dead and that's it, otherwise it's christmas/new year's and other national holidays that commemorate important events but nobody actually cares about them (except independence day)

>We get hammered, burn a bonfire by a lake, go to sauna, get more hammered in the process and finally drown ourselves
That's just called 4th of July over here except instead of suana we just eat unhealthy food

>we

Attached: 1502347114247.gif (332x250, 1.23M)

There's a lot of alcoholics in the US

>excuse to drink
BASED
YLE Kioski is some project of theirs to have creative people voluntary make stuff for them or something idk. But that's the result and I approve
>day of the dead
what's that? sounds spooky
that's independence day everywhere in the world, dummy

Attached: can't stand.jpg (1080x1080, 765K)

oh, wait we also have posadas which are before christmas and people get together every night for 9 days and have parties and stuff

it's not an official holiday, though

>not drinking

Attached: 1517955788023.png (326x228, 56K)

why, what does posadas mean if anything

it's like all saints' day in europe, i guess
people put up altars for dead relatives in their houses, go clean and decorate their graves...
lately, it has mixed with halloween, too so there are kids going around asking for candy

there's also tons of decoration with marigolds, colored paper, pumpkins (cause of halloween influence), skulls, special food...

LOVE halloween

we don't have anything like that here 2bh. No halloween either

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Non Non Biyori - 08 [1080p].mkv_snapshot_08.12.png (1920x1080, 1.72M)

it's alright

Do Yuros even have Halloween? Might be dumb question as I know it was originally an Irish thing but I've never heard of yuros celebrating it.

not from what I saw in england or Italy. They sell costumes and decoration stuff, but I saw NOTHING bout trick or treating

i don't actually know, i've never to any :^)
kek, but i think it has something to do with jesus or his family
posada means hostel

no we don't. they try to force it for commercial reasons and I don't know if it's a thing elsewhere but here in Finland it's not. Having a Halloween themed party would be pretty normal for a kid but going trick and treating definitely isn't

me too. halloween is the only holiday i really like.

why don't you have halloween or some equivalent? doesn't the lutheran church celebrate all saints day, too?

>Kids don't go trick or treating in Europe
>They don't know the feeling of going door to door at night amassing a metric fuckton of candy with the lads
grim

it was really hard to even find enough candy to pig out on too. . It was either really small, those shitty basic milk chocolate eye balls/coines in gold net bags, or just expensive candy bars. No mega packs or anything

how much candy do you give out on a normal halloween night?

>but i think it has something to do with jesus or his family
Before jesus was born mary and joseph were denied a space at the inn leading them to stay at the barn and place him in the manger, it's supposed to be making up for that by inviting people into your home or something, a couple of cities in texas celebrate it as well

usually about a punch bowl's worth. But since Ive celebrated halloween usually in my dorm the last 3 or 4 years, I just buy myself a ton of candy and watch spooky movies. ITGPCB is a yearly tradition, same with the Grinch on christmas

>hostel
that goes with the picture I get with mexicans desu that you are very hospitable people
we have Pääsiäinen, Easter. Kids go door to door dressed as witches and bunnies and demand treats in exchange for these twigs that bloom these fluffy things at spring

Attached: pääsiäisnoidat.jpg (898x1600, 457K)

>mexicans
>hospitable people
HAHAHAHAHAHA

they are, actually

>it was really hard to even find enough candy to pig out on too. .
A single house will rarely ever give out a lot of candy to one child, that's why you go around the entire neighborhood bro.

>we have Pääsiäinen, Easter. Kids go door to door dressed as witches and bunnies and demand treats
Not familiar with this holiday but sound pretty much like Halloween.

>very hospitable people
in what way

When do we start calling illegal immigrants “undocumented immigrants” and then just “migrants”?
