On average, similar enough to understand the basic grasp of a sentence. Then you have sentences that are pretty much incomprehensible and others that read just like the spanish equivalent.

ACKCHYUALLY arabic loanwords didn't replace the latin based ones, you just have two synonymous with different roots. Like in English with shit like freedom and liberty.

And most arabic loanwords are in reallity greek, aramic, persian or sanskrit

as i previously learned french and Italian the difference is notable and it requires special attention to vocabulary

I have an easy time reading understanding written Portuguese.

Written Italian is not as easy though. Only like 50% of the sentence structure is intelligible.

And finally, French lies somewhere in between Italian and Portuguese

We have many turkish loanwords that are actually arabic or persian in origin. That doesn't change that we took them for the Turks even if some of those words aren't used in Turkey that much nowadays.

Pretty similar, when I went to Italy with my friends, I could make myself understood almost as well as my italian friend.
