quiet

That's how I built residential zones in SimCity.
Never got past 60k residents tho.
are they afraid of trees
Tress take up space that could be used for parking lots.
Just joking.
The more manufactured a community is the less foliage there is, that’s why they have to add those little parks.
Also tree roots fuck up sewage and water systems.
They are boring people
b-but you get judged by your neighbors if you don't mow the lawn every day and if you don't bring a homemade apple pie to them every weekend.
it's comfy
I wonder how much are the building costs per square meter on those and how much the plots cost.
The actual reason is almost always because they want to send their kids to a better public school than what is available in the city. Parents also want their kids to be able to play outside without the dangers of the city and lack of spaces appropriate for children. Some people also dislike the city, but have to work there. So since they can't live in a more rural area and don't want to live in the city, they have to live in the suburbs.
how does one buy a home in there
i mean, i did some google and all looked like scam
The yards are too small, but still better than any apartment
What?
due to homeowners association
they're fucking insane
>Homeowners associations require purchase and distribution of apple pies
>He thinks it's 1957
I wish we still did things like that, user.
They are not as common as Jow Forums thinks
I don't know of any and I build houses
they do require you to cut your grass a certain length though
How much are building costs on those houses?
I lived in two places with HOAs and they never did anything like that. They'd just get mad if you left trash in front of your house.
If you can find one and want to live there, go ahead
>2018
>not living in a container house
I don't know for sure, it hard to tell from the air. It looks like they must be in an area with expensive land, that's why such small lots
I would guess those houses are around $180k
the safest option
I'm all fine with suburbs but why the fuck do they only have one floor?
It's better than this kind of house along the road with the noise of all the cars and trucks who cross the hamlet.
the average bongistani house
ok, thanks.
I unironically like it very much
This is why I never understand these threads.
If they ever lived in a house, any house, they'd see how nice it is compared to any flat or attached house.
In Germany these kind of roads are often prohibited to use by any other people than residents
Very comfy once you have cleaned up
>flag
how big is your shoe box of an apartment? do you live with your grandparents? funny when poor countries like UK get triggered by these threads.
you buy it? what do you even mean it looked like a scam.
They are pretty common. most certainly an HOA in the OP.
>quiet
Nah
>Affordable
sure
>less crime
Compared to the inner city, yes. Compared to the countryside, no.
Americans live in McMansion sprawls because their interiors can be customized to whatever specification they desire for a reasonable price (even if they all look the same from the outside), it's reasonable to insure, and America is based around car culture so transportation is not an issue.
They must be near bigger cities
I'm in an area with all small to mid size cities
that's true. i am not sure why others are denying that since I like that and there is nothing wrong a nice looking lawn. Most people would cut their grass anyway.
When you have to go from the city A to the city B, you are forced to cross the 6 hamlets between the city A and city B and they are often full of trucks, it's very noisy and there are only old people who live in these hamlets making it very dangerous.
Do you live on the countryside?
The Real America IS the countryside
>buying pie instead of making it yourself
Pleb detected.
This is what happens when you don't allow people to discriminate when choosing tenants.
The only thing quieter than a suburb is living rural
They don't. Both one- and two floor houses in that pic.
Better than the insectoid hives in the cities, but still way too insectoid for my taste.
>never understand these threads
jealousy and fear of something you don't understand (typical of 19 yo not fully mentally developed kids)
>tfw you never will be middle-class american who lives in suburbs, making barbeque with his friends and drinking cold beer
>how nice
Not really. I live in a flat. You can walk to get crepes or black sausage in 5 minutes and all the hustle that comes with a house is taken care by the housing company. I've lived in a house too.
>b-but you get judged by your neighbors if you don't mow the lawn every day
When I lived in a soulless suburb like this they hired mexicans to mow everybodies lawn
Could be . It is a big country. Where I live we have HOAs that charge an association fee of 400 to 1000 a year but there is usually a free community pool, a club house (sometimes with a smallish exercise room) and the HOA also takes care of the public property maintenance (roads, lawns, landscaping, etc). Makes a lot of sense to me.
This should be paid from taxes lol
I would give my left nut to have such a house.
t. live in a commieblock and it sucks
How are they not quiet? And virtually no crime.
Are cars expensive in the US?
No exotic sports cars of anything like that obviously.
Let's say I am a 25 year old college student working in some unskilled minimum wage job, but I live with my parents and I am good at saving and managing money (won't spend on dumb frivolous stuff like iPhones), how long would it take for me to afford a decent car with these requirements?
Because this is exactly my life here in Brazil and since cars are very expensive due to high taxes and inflated profit margins by car dealerships, it would take me YEARS to pay for a basic car like a Corolla -considered semi-luxury car in Brazil-, a second-hand one could take up to 4 years for someone making minimum wage and saving.
A big part of why our standard of living is so poor is because shit is expensive here in Brazil. We are taxed out of our asses for everything we pay, and we get nothing in return, in fact, we do get a big FUCK YOU from the government.
What the
>won't spend on dumb frivolous stuff like iPhones
Then you wouldn't be American
aren't cars cheaper in argentina? so why not buying a car in argentina?
*kills you*
Disgusting, how can people live like that?
Living alone in the middle of the countryside is the ultimate life
Cars are cheaper practically anywhere, even the ones manufactured here are sold elsewhere cheaper than here. If you buy one from a foreign country you'll get taxed heavily when bringing it here and end up paying even more.
I'm telling you, we brazilians are slaves to our government, of course I'm not trying to say taxes are the sole reason we are third world, but it's definitely a major reason why our standard of living is poor, we pay scandinavian level taxes to sustain a huge state and welfare programs.
Because Import tax? Or doesn't live anywhere near Argentine border?
That obviously depends on how much tax you pay. Except you wouldn't have a choice since you would still have to pay higher tax even if you didn't live in an HOA. That's communism.
Depends on how you ask. I'd say there are pretty affordable here. You can buy a pretty decent new car for 20-25K. When I went to college my dad bought me a 2 yo car and they are significantly cheaper so it is a pretty good deal. About 12-15K if you don't need it fully loaded.
? You are reacting to the word "HOA" thinking it is something special? It is like googling "government" or "laws" or "cops" or "news". A pretty generic term.
*who you ask*
You could get a beat up used car for like $5000. If you have good credit and save every penny you can, you could build up a down payment for a loan in a few months and be driving by the end of the year. Might not be worth it though, gas/insurance/maintenance would be a big drain on a min wage budget.
The best option desu. I'm looking at doing something similar to pic related with my gf using 3 containers, minus the complex overhang. Something with that setup would be less than $45,000.
cheap garbage
This would be wonderful, good luck on that, friend.
Don't forget concrete foundations like your pic related and to treat the floor timbers with mould resistant and water resistant paint/oil
>Corolla considered semi-luxury car in Brazil
Literally a car that Mexican migrants working below minimum wage in the US drive, actually most of them like rolling around in Accords or older Silverados.
>also tree roots fuck up sewage and water systems.
So you're scared of trees. I think you severely overestimate the rate of the damage they can cause.
I'm 24, I don't want to be pouring money into an expensive large house at this point in my life. I want a home I can have paid for within two years.
Thanks, planning building a cement deck with a below ground lounge area running along the long side of the house and having it recessed into the earth.
>be boomershit
>introduce niggers and shitskins to nation
>allow them to breed and get uppity
>simply abandon the cities your forefathers shed blood to build and let the nigger hoards overrun them
>raise kids in suburbs, turn into autistic serial killers because bored out of their fucking minds
>everyone starts nabbing random pills from the cabinet hoping one will get them high and break up the monotony of suburban existence
>kids are all obese by age 12, underperform in school, and end up as paycheck to paycheck wageslaves
>nowhere to go because suburbs are dismal and devoid of absolutely anything, not even a corner store
>cities are niggerfied and dangerous now
>go between work, the mall, and your mcmansion via car, only entertainment is the television
>die of diabetes at age 50
Unironically thank god for hipsters. They're shedding blood on the front lines to gentrify our cities again.
Kek. God I fucking hate suburbs. Let's just fuck up the roads for no reason! Does this road go through, or will it go to a cul de sac? Who knows!
>tfw trucks make your 4 stories condo rumble
I wish that wasn't the dominate engineering mindset when they were build the suburbs in the 80s
They'll do pillars that are 90% Styrofoam then 5% chicken wire, and 5 stucco with a 2x4 running through the center of the pillar, and then turn around and sell the house $1 million
So next to nothing to build. 70% is the land costs
Actually most American city centers have a lower crime rate than the average surrounding suburb.
My truck was made in Brazil
Nah shipping container buildings are actually cool.
It’s a nice way to recycle and they’re sturdier than most American wood frame buildings.
There are some really cool things you can do with shipping containers and I mean, construction is expensive. Trump’s made it even more expensive with his retarded tariffs on lumber and steel.
America has 700k shipping containers sitting in our ports doing nothing because the Chinese just make new ones instead of bringing them back.
are you a gorilla?
This. My dad works in construction. He warned me to never buy a mcmansion because they cut corners everywhere. You can hear a toilet flush 2 stories down and on the other side of the house. They're plywood shitboxes for retard wageslaves. And they all "start" at $350,000 in shitty areas and 600,000 in good areas. My left nut.
Meanwhile I can buy a /comfy/ studio right in downtown for like $250,000 and never need to spend a dime on commuting or a cage or any fucking maintenance or lawncare or other bullshit. Oh yeah man, just what I want, spend 3 hours every sunday on mowing a fucking lawn. Or dropping $10k on a new roof after a hailstorm. These suburb houses fall apart after like 30 years anyway. So by the time you've paid it off it's time to buy a new one. lmao these retards got fleeced hard by kikes.
>playing cities skylines
>always end up placing my buildings like this
Am I american now?
Most new construction in America looks like this and is in the city center. It’s been that way for ten years desu.
But it’s also popular to renovate old buildings in the city center.
I don’t think anyone builds those suburbs anymore.
If you were you'd probably be from upstate New York or Minnesota. That's were all the Swedes and Finns live
Remember you can go as high as 5 stories with containers.
Not that you’d want to, but containers are actually built like brick shithouses. With a concrete foundation they can withstand 150mph winds.
You should look to get them from your nearest port because the 40’ are under $3k but you’ll spend more than that transporting it if you buy it from far away.
Also the floors are treated with some harsh chemicals so you might want to take them out. Otherwise construction is extremely fast and inexpensive. And you can stucco the outside if you don’t want the industrial look.
OP pic would be cozy if they made a park, a grocery and a little town square. Some apartments and townhomes wouldn’t hurt.
No retard suburbs sprang up because the highways allowed people to live on cheaper land and still go to the cities for jobs. Niggers moving in is a symptom not the cause
>HOA fights over WW2 tanks
Wtf
For work I had to build a control room out of a shipping container and now I am really in love with this idea. You can get a used 40" container for cheap.
It gives a feeling of familiarity and represents the "american dream"
Hey some of us are pretty frugal, it's easy to save money here
Good taste
t.
The "playing outside thing" is a total meme, maybe 30 years ago that was a regular occurrence but kids these days aren't allowed to do anything without adult supervision, not to mention these areas usually lack good parks.
People live in places like this because it's the only thing that's affordable for lower middle-class people that's not a crime-ridden ghetto. The actual urban planning/layout is due to a nightmarish American atrocity called single-use zoning
>Boomer bring in immigrant workers
>they occupy the city centers
>Boomers move away to the suburbs
>their children move back to the city and gentrify the shit out of some districts
>the immigrants even move to other immigrant areas or to the suburbs
>boomers in the suburbs flee to the countryside or the recently gentrified inner cities
I wonder where this will lead to in 20 years. Probably you'll have strictly separated slums and rich-people-areas like in South America or South Africa.
Also minimum setbacks (dwelling has to be set back a minimum number of feet from the property line). As mentioned above this leads to a boom in landscaping as Americans are usually to fat and lazy to actually mow their beloved lawns.
America, we need to talk.
What would the construction of a typical plywood McMansion cost compared to a house of the same size made from bricks or concrete?
In Los Angeles it's already just started to result in what are basically pan-ethnic clusters in neighborhoods based solely on income.
I live in an upper middle income suburb of North Eastern Los Angeles and my family owns a lot rental properties in North East LA and there it's basically just become uppere middle class Hispanics, Whites and Asians living in what used to be poor Mexican neigborhoods or just low income white areas. Between these zones are the dying remenants of poor predominantly Hispanic and Black areas. Now all those poor people have been displaced.
Rich people regardless of ethnicity just flea to the nicer areas near the beach, Hollywood/Beverly or the San Gabriel valley.
