It already is that way. Cali went through what the rest of the country is going through now. We had a big neo-nazi kind of movement in the 80s and 90s. Problem is 1960s on leftists from the rest of the country starting moving here en mass. Reagan gave amnesty to a bunch of illegals who just started voting democrat. They voted to basically open the borders and give illegals a free pass so they would pop out more democrat voters. They've grown up now. California is already doomed because the right wing people who do live here are self-hating as Californians and don't want to try. All the anti-Cali memes on here just breeds defeatism. Encourge the ones here to rise up instead of being defeatist, get the Fed government to crack down the Democrats here trying to protect illegals and expose the public at large just how far the DNC is going here to get votes. Anyway it goes to demonstrate the larger split within the CA GOP between norcal and socal. Because of this split it will not pass, because socal Republicans are faggots who don't give a shit about anyone north of Fresno.
Also at least SOJ51 has a marginal chance of happening because if Democrats do it they'd win 4/5ths control over the state and thus crush any and all Republican opposition. Meanwhile the three-state initiative splits them into two states, only one of which (LA) they'd have total political control over.

Norcal/Socal were names suggested by Southern states for California before California was admitted to the Union. The notion of a "norcal" and "socal" rests with the Mason-Dixon line and is why LA was full of CSA sympathizers during the civil war.
It is also why the CA GOP's leadership was in the north until Reagan happened, this was also when SF was only starting to deindustrialize as tech companies began building their factories south in what is now Silicon Valley rather than within city limits.
