Normally I would say it is because they overestimate themself a lot after such a win and just keep playing with the old fags and the old style. For Germany now it is kinda strange since many of the old ones did not play again (Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Podolski, Klose...).
Might still be the case that they felt to safe, tho. Löw lost pretty much all test games and was just like "meh, just testing here, in the cup they will be good again..."
