Yeah I use a diva cup. Saves money and you don't have to change it 4 times a day. Only once in the morning and once at night. This is way more convenient.

It can be quite tricky to get out. I have to put my foot up on the sink to get it out. Couple of times I've spilt my blood fucking everywhere. Huge mess. Always stick to the shower now.

Once it's in it creates a vacuum in your vagina so it doesn't leak. To remove it, you just break the vaccuum by pinching it. Then you can remove it without tilting the cup, so it's possible to do it without too much spills.

It's really tricky to get in and out because of the size. It feels like you've shoving a golf ball up there. Doing it in the shower is easier because the warm water acts as lubricant.

I always find it quite interesting to observe my blood in the cup. It remains liquid, you can see the colour and the cup has a measurement on it so you know how many ml you bled in so many hours. This is useful so you can calculate if you need to take an iron supplement.

With a tampon, the blood is not liquid. It just becomes a soggy mess of cotton and blood. It seems better to observe your blood in its natural state, so you can assess what stage of your period you're in, how heavy is it, does it look healthy etc.

As a teenager or when you first get your period, this stuff is gross and terrifying. You just get used to it after a few years.

Yeah some of it is chunks. That picture is very scary, I've never had that much solid matter come out. AFAIK the chunks are just clotted blood and aren't pieces of your insides.

When I first started getting periods and before I was on hormonal birth control it would appear a bit like that picture more often. I think birth control and time makes it calm down a bit.
