He goes outside for most of the day, if he wanted to run away he would have done so a long time ago.
I've had him for 5 years, he is a shelter cat originally and he was very nice, he seems to enjoy living here as far as i can tell.
He gets to go outside, he gets good food, has a big yard with lots of squirrels and birds and stuff to hunt, places to run around and stalk stuff, lots of shade and bushes to rest and then he comes in at night.
I don't know but maybe mistreated cats sleep on your chest at night, i dunno i'm not some /An/imal pro
