This is probably all just media hype but does anyone think it is seriously getting to that point? I live in an all white, conservative small town in western Nebraska and I don't follow the news too much since I'm busy with work and life in general so I'm kind of in a bubble. Everything feels like it always did here. I vaguely know that people are "divided" but how much of a factor is this in people's daily lives?

it's pretty obvious that the left would have serious problems in a civil war. the distribution of the left geographically clusters very tightly in a few locales and makes supply chain logistics a nightmare

It sometimes feels that way when discussions get out of hand. On the one hand, I don't want to hide my beliefs just to be civil. But, I also don't want to have to argue with people constantly just because my neighborhood tends blue.

But, I am really disappointed by the accelerationists in the media, especially on the Right who are blowing this up for political points. I get why the Left is going insane. They have been losing big time. But, for Conservatives, who are on the verge of having a narrow majority in all branches of government to be perpetuating this narrative is frustrating.

I think it's honestly inevitable at some point. We're like Imperial Germany; one side (Dems) will win the popular vote a lot but hardly ever get power. They'll put up with it, as they have been since 2000, until there's a major crisis, then things will break down. Maybe instead of a civil war we'll get a military junta or a de Gaulle 1958 type coup, but the current constitutional arrangement is on borrowed time

I honestly think the left are eager to use violence but know that it would be harmful to their greater project. Every time I hear someone sincerely use the term "reactionary" as a pejorative, I'm led to believe that they spend their nights fantasizing about killing Nuns in the Spanish Civil War.

Most plausible outcome for a real-deal civil war is we have a Democratic House and Presidency with a Senate they can never win. Politicians find this useful as a way to promise people things without having to deliver them, but eventually one side or the other miscalculates and the President orders the army to arrest a few Senators. Whether they comply or not one side will have so much fear of losing everything you could see violence
