Stalin didn't kill anybody with his hands. If you call him murder because of death during his reign, then there are lot of murders, who killed millions in history and modern murderers. And some of them are very honorable persons.

The difference is that murders by presidents of the United States are sometimes unpredictable and not the intent of the leader of the country, I would definitely say that there is a big difference between for example Vietnam and Holodomor or the Gulags, in the sense that the latter were intentional killings by the government and the earlier was an international mess with a lot bad actors and bad decisions.

The US did a lot of bad shit throughout the cold war and so did the Soviet Union, but I really can't see how you could call Stalin a good person.
