Just wanted to talk more about this project that I’m working on, as some cool things have happened in the last two weeks.
To recap: I’ve been on here a few times looking for critique on an art project. The concept is to make these really wild, extravagant diamond covered jewelry pieces that make reference to contemporary culture and art history.
I believe, for a handful of reasons, that the market would be receptive to the work. And by using a commodity as an art medium I believe I’ll be able to quickly justify a high starting price. This is something notoriously difficult for emerging artists.
Now to the new stuff: I’ve lined up quite a bit of interest in art spheres. One of the producers who’s responsible for the proliferation of the new wave ‘lil’ rappers is excited about the project. As is an editor at an important national art magazine. And I’ve been offered a potential writeup in Hypebeast for the work.
On top of that, I have a brief release/opening exhibition promised at a relevant LA/NY/Miami street-pop art gallery, with a huge audience. As if the optics couldn’t get better I’ve also been offered exhibition at an LA based fine art gallery (this gallery owner is responsible for their artists getting collected internationally by museums.
Additionally I’ve recently been able to grow an organic Instagram following to 9k with content targeted at a key audience segment.
The only thing I haven’t been able to finalize is fundraising. The project is non-traditional, not in tech, and expensive, and while I have a handful of interested parties, I’m never sure how real it is. I need $100k to produce the collection, and have been offering a respectable 2x on investment with limited risk (value is held largely in materials.)
This may be my other ID, popping in and out of the house so I may or may not be on WiFi!

>> Does anyone have advice for me in this area? Not likely on Jow Forums, this board has become 90% cryptocurrency shills/"investors". All the money on this board is on exchanges and in wallets and not ready to invest in non-traditional projects.
>I need $100k to produce the collection, and have been offering a respectable 2x on investment with limited risk How have you gotten this far without someone backing the project financially? Also how can you offer a 2x on investment?
Jace Reyes
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA Fucking jewelrybro at it again. Are you ever going to fuck off you autistic samefag scammer? How many of these threads are you going to post!?

Yeah I've been in your other threads dickhead, I look forward to being in this one. Time to open some beers

Markup is 3x. The offer I had been making is 50/50 split net with principle returned. A few times I’ve sweetened the pot by offering a continued split on custom work for a period of time.
>How have I gotten this far? I’m intelligent, well spoken, and have solid relationships. I didn’t need capital to get influential people excited about the project.
Adam Reyes
Cool. I hope it’s fun for you. Maybe you could bump it for me, since you’ll be here and all.
>sigh

>I need $100k to produce the collection Get them excited to open their wallets.

AFAIK crowdfunding is more appropriate to cover tooling and production on mass market stuff. I haven’t seen a lot of large projects funded in the art space.
Overall it also feels that it might cheapen the impact of the project, or my persona.
It’s a special blend of investor-patron that I’ve identified as necessary.
Ian Lopez
Right. And I think it’s a solid offer.
I think the ask is weird though. It’s not an equity grab in a tech or block chain based company. Not a lot of people are familiar enough with the cultural mechanism that makes art valuable, and I think even fewer are willing to place contemporary culture into that bucket.

I think you’re right. I wish there were more people interested in real, ambitious things here, instead of all the hodl bros.
Oliver Walker
no, it's literally in the rules that you can fuck off with your business ventures
Ryan Barnes
It’s against the rules to ask for advice? You. Are. Tripping.

Have you provided anything of value here?

Really curious if this board is useful at all or just filled with bitter NEETs waiting to make it in crypto.

Aw man. People on the internet don’t like me and are unwilling to articulate why beyond general insults.
