Yeah, lamprey is from around my area (Coimbra/Beira), but I've only eaten it a couple of times. Tastes sort of like pork, oddly enough.

I've always wanted to try this too, but I'm sure most burgers would be squeamish about it. Which is ironic considering some of the other shit they eat, but that's a whole separate matter. In any case I think I'll need to be in Europe to eat lamprey.

Portugal (and Spain) have a lot of great fish/seafood dishes. Most Mediterranean countries do as well.

I think in the US you'd need to go to New England.

Do try the food and don't fall for the francesinha/bitoque memes. They're great and worth trying once, but our real powerhouse is seafood and fish.

We're pretty fussy about food looks as well, so if things look disgusting it's because they're delicious and survived years and years of fussy eaters.
