Costa beats Greggs narrowly I think, both have around 1800 outlets. Fish and Chips still rules though, apparently there are over 10,000 chip shops in the country. Weird how there's never been a successful chain of fish and chip takeaways, they've always been small independent/family owned affairs.

I thought of them but I've just checked they only have 45 outlets in the UK & Ireland which is very low compared to their fast food rivals. Although they've focused on the frozen food market as well, but I still think it's weird there isn't a fish and chip giant considering how popular the food is.
