Why are asian americans so different from their asian counterparts?

They successfully assimilated here because there wasn't a ton of them concentrated together to allow a subculture to form. Look at black people for example, they speak differently, have their own music, fashion etc

I've seen with chinese, which are pretty much the only asians we have.

America does a much better job of assimilating people than Europe does.

I guess it's because American identity is based on creed and citizenship. Anyone can become American if they meet that criteria.

On the other hand, Europeans are more about blood and soil. They're the kind that say, "hurrr durrr your ancestors weren't celtic gauls. You don't belong here."

They have a big community.

Asians in Europe and especially at places without a big enough community to e.g. form a China town stay silent and under the radar.

They are hated and disrespected by everyone so they pretend to be white to fit in.

Some of our Asians have been here a long time (more than a century), which gives them time to assimilate.

I'm reminded of my visit to Panama, and they also have a large Chinese population. They seemed quite well assimilated.

They can have a job and whatever, but they will never be truly citizen of the respective country.

I'm actually white. I just don't appreciate foreigners talking about who's American or who's not. A lot of my friends in college were Asian and they were fully-assimilated Americans.
