To sum up, AfD and far-right xenophobic politics in general, has gained momentum in Bavaria. This is surprising because Bavaria's economy is doing better than ever before with a very low unemployment rate and high wages. On top of that, the refugees in Bavaria have barely committed any violent crimes in Bavaria.
How did this happen? How did a right-wing fascist, racist and xenophobic party gain so much popularity when objectively, Bavaria is doing very well with both economics and refugees. Is it fake news from the alt-right that's riling people up?
People are prejudice. Period. They aren't "prejudice because bad economy". They aren't "prejudice because they commited a crime". They are prejudice, full stop. Black, White, Asian, Mixed, whatever. Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Buddhist, whatever. Rich, Poor, Middle, whatever. Left, Right, Center, whatever.

My grandfather fought the Nazi scum and was a POW. After Germany was defeated, the US heavily invested in its reconstruction and education through the Marshall Plan. This lead to a calm and peaceful Germany for over 60 years where the politics has been dominated only by left centrists and right centrists.
This is a concern to me because my family and many other families sacrificed so much to stop fascism in Germany. To hear it's coming back is a huge let down.

Given a high migration scenario (like we had for the last decade) it is projected that countries like Germany will have a 20% muslim population by 2050. And that is just muslims, not counting other foreign ethnic/religious minorities, which in turn could create a scenario where ethnic Germans could potentially become a minority or minority-majority in their own country.

There were tons of videos of a horde of migrants walking to Germany and a lot of publicity about it. Factoring in all the terror attacks and the internal struggle within CDU/CSU - the AFD still only received 12,5% of the votes. Merkel winning overwhelmingly with 41,5%.
But of course keep believing the 15% average in opinion polling is impressive in any way.

AfD grew to a 15% (from 7%) in early 2016 which was just after the migrant crisis of mid-2015. So it virtually doubled its support. Not bad considering AfD is really a very young party created in 2013.

What evidence do you have that no one else is going to change their mind or no one else who hasn't voted before, won't be galvanized to go out to vote for the AfD?
What did you expect, a couple terror attacks and AfD winning the 2017 elections against established, decade-old parties? A 4 year old party? Not even themselves would have thought of that scenario. There is still lot of bad rap and propaganda about the party and the ideas it represents (which are incredibly moderate), no major media puts them in a favourable or even neutral light, and people is still very reluctant to publicly support them or be seen voting for them. There is also another factor, the fact that AfD is not simply an anti-immigration platform, it is also right-wing pro-free market (or started as such, "national liberalism") which can make working class people a bit wary about them, even if they would like more border control. There are also a lot of anti-immigration voices in other major parties (see OP's pic), it's not as simple as pretending that only 15% of germans care about that (wide demographic studies in forms of anonymous questionaires are better for that), that would imply that before AfD was founded nobody thought immigration was a problem, and that's simply a stupid premise.

Let's say this. The CDU/CSU union is only 2.5 points down since the 2017 elections. The SPD has a net loss of 2 points. At the height of the PVV it only received 15% of the votes. In fact at the last Tweede Kamerverkiezingen in tumbled down to 10% and no one - not a single party wants to work with them. I foresee the same scenario happening with the AFD as others simply refuse to work with them while they stick around that 15% share of the votes.
As time goes by - people grow tired of the same negative message and rhetoric getting repeated over and over again. They lose faith, they grow tired and the party simply loses attention.
Hell, Wilders desperately tried to sue Mark Rutte, our PM, for discriminating all Dutch people claiming he's bringing Muslims into this country.
