Where do you two live? I live in a smallish midwestern US city, and somehow feel that most in my area aren't very informed about that part of the world. I was ignorant of the subject but really don't get the feeling that it's common knowledge here.

Pakistan and India wanting to nuke eachother is common world-wide knowledge, what the fuck user, even for an American this is pretty fucking depressing.

Yeah mostly a dispute over territory. Think its the Kashmir region or something. Funnily enough one of my clients was paki and had a poo business partner. Lasted all of 3 years kek.

People really don't give a fuck around here. I also don't have TV or watch news media, so that could play a factor. I can't recall anyone ever saying anything about Pakistan/India relations/conflicts at all, and I am a good listener.

India and Pakistan were united under British rule, then post-colonialism they split in order for Muslim-majority Pakistan (+Bangladesh, aka East Pakistan) to have autonomy from Hindu-majority India. This led to mass amounts of Muslims and Hindus moving from their homelands into their ethnic-majority nation, literally the largest migration in human history. There has been border conflict and general rivalry ever since.
