They don't, at all, vast majority of Americans approve of public transit in general, HOWEVER lots of Americans don't enjoy riding it. Because it sucks.

An interesting way to look at it is some boomers grew up and clashed with the ones who didn't since the 80s

Maybe it sucks because it's underinvested and it's underinvested because boomers don't want their taxes to be spent on public transportation?

Nope it definitely just sucks. Not sure if you have any data on who supports specific tax increases, but as someone who takes public transit--it sucks. More money wouldn't make it suck less. People suck and public transit means taking your transit around a ton of people, some of whom will jump in front of the train making everyone late.

Lmao naahhhhh I've spent years and years in cars/buses, never had anyone who jumped and caused big delay. Had someone jump in front of a train about 3-4 times in less than 2 years.

But you miss the point. Public transit always involves compromise, it always shittier than alternatives. I'm glad you like public transit--I like it too, for what it is. It gets me to where I am going (as long as some retard dont jump in front of the train, or general bs delays that go on).

It has a lot of advantages too. For example, you don't need wide highways, it's never stuck in traffic (especially trams/trains), it's more eco, also it's cheaper overall.

I can agree public transit might be shittier than alternatives in the US since you live in big houses in the suburbs that take a lot of space therefore it's not viable to connect all the houses to the public transit network, but it's just the US. Just stop living in the suburbs and move to the city.
