First of all, they were always better off, Czechoslovakia was the richest Warsaw Pact country and Czechia was the richest part of Austria-Hungary so it's not that they "did" fine in the last years, more like we've caught up with them for the last 2 decades.

Secondly, I don't think such a small difference is enough to say that they do fine, as I said, there are much bigger differences between some western European countries than between Czechia and Poland or Hungary. Why you don't see Germans complaing about how good life in Denmark is comparing to Germany, that they would like to have Danish politicians, Danish ordnung, Danish wages etc., but you constantly see Eastern Europeans fapping to Czechia, even though they aren't so far ahead of us?
