How would you solve America's obesity epidemic?
Other urls found in this thread:
By forbidding junk food and implement fats tax?
Less endocrine disruptors?
dunno we're having a bit of an issue here too
revive the founding fathers and encase them in bulletproof armour so they can cleanse the country
Used to live there, there's (((soy))) and carbs in literally everything and the only place you can get good food is the farmer's market which costs a fucking fortune. America is fucked. There is no redemption.
Demonise fat people as infectious and a drain on societies resources. Blame them for taxes, joblessness and the break down of family values.
This.
Fat shaming should become state enforced.
Why would I stop that? I want to see what happens next.
What?
There are lots of state restrictions on guns and drugs but people still get them. I'd like to see a local black market for junk food.
Unironically this. We let morbidly obese people park in handicap spots because the state counts morbid obesity as a disability. The parking spots farthest from the entrance should be where fatties are forced to park.
By deporting the niggers to Liberia or Brazil.
>bigssissippi
>The parking spots farthest from the entrance should be where fatties are forced to park.
And how would that be enforced?
I don't really think this'd help all that much, but why don't you have classes in high school (only for a single year) once a week where you could have teens learn how to cook by themselves, under the helpful eye of a teacher, who'd offer advice on how to make food better. And in the meanwhile, they could have very laid-back classes that educate them about nutrition in an easy way. Even if they sit with boredom, with their thumbs twiddling, at the very least, they'd have a general idea
And of course, it'd be nice if parents were given a hand on how to feed their children.
Maybe my suggestion'd not have as much as an effect a sugar tax would, but there'd be an informed change, however small, at the consumer level.
And maybe my head is in the clouds, and this isn't realistic in the slightest., but maybe something like this could be done in the US, since it's one of the wealthier countries. I don't know, but cooking classes sound like a very nice thing to have, and it's not something that should be a thing just at specialty schools.
Start moving fat people to diet camps where they are forced to eat healthily and do manual labor until they are fit.
unironically, treat them like shit. this fat acceptance is shooting ourselves in the foot. the first step is to treat all fat people as digusting subhuman gluttons. Then, increase taxes on what they eat (typical junk food and litres of soda) then rework our infrastructure to include other modes of transportation besides cars. And abolish suburbs.
>sugar tax
Bad idea, Denmark tried that. People in general just ate as much sugar but saved on other foods.
This is a free country Stalin.
mandatory cooking classes in grade school
people here can't cook at all. You only see boomers in the fresh produce aisle at stores
I'm going to reply something about "freedumbs" but you gave me better Idea for solving your problem.
so you mean make the boomer meme into a real thing?
make it illegal for drinks to have more than 2 grams of sugar per fluid ounce
the problem isn't thst people don't know how to cook per se, it's that they just don't want to because it's quicker and easier to just load up on junk food than to make an actual meal
he got agitated and is upset with you being gleeful to what is happening to the only thing in the world that keeps him safe from you
But why would you want that? if people are fat that means they aren't starving, isn't that good?
>having enough food to eat is an epidemic
Kek only jealous third worlders think this is an issue
when you eat, how much do you eat?
as in, do you eat until you cant eat anymore, or do you eat when you have eaten enough?
do you know, can you tell when you have eaten enough?
I eat until my tummy is satisfied
It will solve itself. I wouldn't worry about it.
Let the free market do its thing: health care insurance agencies are allowed to demand higher fees from fatties, fatties have to buy two seats on a plane et cetera. Hopefully this will teach fatties that it's expensive to be fat.
Also roll back government intervention in some aspects (get rid of the fucking corn lobby that pumps high fructose corn syrup into EVERYTHING) while getting the government more involved in other regards (tax fast food, much like how tobacco products are taxed. This will get rid of the stale "fast food is cheaper" argument).
In other words, I mostly seek to operate through financial incentives.
>this will teach fatties that it's...
your post is invalid
morbidly obese people are same as too many snails in a fresh new garden
guess what happens to them when they have eaten all they can
some predator feasts on them without restraint, just as they did before they drew the predators attention
In that case at least they'll compensate for the drain on public funds by paying more taxes and health care fees.
What if your corporations add molecules preventing the stomach from feeling full?
People aren’t getting to the root of the problem: our dependency on cars promotes a sedentary lifestyle that causes a lot of damage to bodies long-term.
Obviously I would Institute single-payer health insurance, but the biggest health problem in the US I heart failure, which stems from our lack of walking anywhere. Just walking 20 minutes a day can add huge benefits to your health long-term.

If I wanted to fix America’s obesity problem I would build more sidewalks, more bike lanes and public transit and denser development patterns to promote walkability. This is also better for mental health and the economy.
Why are Anglos such fatsos?
I would also stop subsidizing corn and oil.
Ban on junk food, and stop sending gibs to fat people so they would starve.
It's already on the decline
The various meathods put in place are having an effect, but the biggest setback is the cultural acceptance of fat people
>cars are now energized through bike padels
>make movies about running people with a black female lead and make lots of fatshaming in tv
>put energydrinks in their water so they move more
>raise fast food prices and lower wages
People will say this is minorities but Texas and Arizona both have enormous Mexican populations
This is about culture and economics
Getting rid of most GMOs.
Removing Soy from fucking everything.
Removing plastic packaging from 99% of non-medical things.
Getting rid of non-basic shampoo and soap.
Taxing the piss out of fatass foods.
With Violence.
You're gonna have people monitoring all parking lots and weigh everyone who looks obese that park in a space closer to the entrance?
We should just be using cars less period.
It costs our society a shutting in construction costs, maintenance for the roads and highways, insurance, and then the health benefits are self-evident: cars are the most fatal way to get around, and the leading cause of death in America is heart disease because no one walks anywhere.
YES
I wish you the best of luck.
invent hologram burgers
In all honesty from the times states try it, it just makes people poorer and fatter, another thing why there's an obesity epidemic is that it's cheaper to get unhealthy food and by taxing that cheap food your only making them poorer and continue to buy unhealthy food
Educate people on cheap local healthy food and tell them it actually tastes better (it does).
And tell people it's not ok to be a fucking human blob
The fuck does soy have to do with anything? Did you unironically fall for the soy meme?
Well statistically being fat and poor are highly correlated(specifically in the U.S), so that obesity is a slight reflection of all the people that afford anything above fast food
*Can't afford
The only reason I'm not a fat-ass is because my immigrant parents refused to buy stuff that wasn't organic or somewhat healthy. The absolute peak junk food we have in our house is granola bars and ice-cream. Living on my own, I saw how easy it was to get fat. Junkfood is just convenient. Even restaurant food.
It's convenient, but highly expensive. cooking your own homemade meals is a lot healthier. If time is a factor, just buy a ricecooker with a steam basket. The rice will cook and the vegetables will steam on their own. All you need to add now is a source of protein like meat or a cheese schnitzel. Sometimes you can buy them à la minute, with herbs and everything already on them. Just panfry them with some olive oil for a few minutes and you're done.
Eating out all the time will really do a number on your income m8.
Not an argument. A lot of supermarket foodstuffs can be very cheap and healthy. Especially if you buy in bulk something like rice with beans and chicken can be cheaper than a McDonalds meal.
Moving the cake aisles to the second floor of all supermarkets and banning escalators/elevators.
Why are boomers so fat?
Mandatory phys-ed class until the 12th Grade and sugar tax, and extra tax on fast food.
Alcohol and cigarettes.
This.
Rice, vegetables, and beans are cheaper than fast food. I'll never understand this "poor people buy fast food because it's cheap" mentality.
The only reason I can see why poor people buy fast food is because it's faster to eat because they don't have enough time to cook food (but if they are really that busy, I'm sure they won't find it hard to burn off fast food calories).
obesity is no longer a problem that individuals alone can solve
governments have to start taxing products on their percentage of added sugars
or penalize directly the companies that distribute unreasonably fatty or sugary foods
Fat shaming
Literally the only way
outlaw glysophate.
Once a year (September, after people's summer cut and before the winter bulk) your body fat is measured. For every deviation from the mean, you have to pay an additional $10,000 in taxes.
this hppened because of junk food, government promoting eating more grains and saying that meat is bad, and overeating more than you need to satisfy hunger.
There are two major issues right now plaguing America in this case, and they go hand in hand. The prevalence of cheap fast food and the emergence of "food deserts". Large areas of urban sprawl or rural land where grocery stores are few and far between while McD's are on every other corner.
it's a self correcting problem. climate change will cause successive crop failures in grain exporting countries including the united states. law and order breaks down in the tropics and subtropics. mass starvation, infectious disease outbreaks, nuclear war and billions scale megadeath ensue
Just strong arm the junk food producers into fortifying their shit with vitamins/minerals while reducing package sizes. I can't imagine a seismic shift in what/how burgerstanis eat so you're going to have to start putting MultiVitamins in coca-cola
Quarantine all whites and place them in camps. After all, they are the ones who create rubbish garbage food in the first place.
