IRS sent me a letter today to “audit” my 2017 gains. They usually audit 2-3 years down the road not right after deadline. They said not to worry as everything looks good ( paid 6 figures) but they want to build dialog so they can better understand the market. I this will be my fifth time being audited but first for crypto. I’ll report back if you have any questions

That’s what I said. My attorney just said go. Not like this is my first audit. What’s weird is that the audit for 2017 should would normally by 2020. Not 3 weeks after deadline.

They usually don’t. I’ve been audited several times and while they do take 3 years, I think crypto is something that are not waiting for. No larp. I’ll report back this summer.
