My fav country song. I think there are other ones too but I can't think of them. The one about "butt in the sand" and the one where they dance all over the house.

Wait this one lol forgot about this one. My brother looks like a less-fat version of this guy.

Not surprising that Americans came to hate country after becoming mutt abominations. It's a harsh reminder of a country that used to be 90% white

dead genre

What's wrong with country? Not that I'm an especially big fan.

Its heavily associated with white rural people (poor but not in like a cool way).

I have very normie taste in music dont got any of the "deep cut" stuff just stuff from the radio

Rap? Now that was crap.

Is this weird mixture of angsty emo guitar and hyper polished sound what passes as regular country in America? I thought it was more akin to Willie Nelson or this youtube.com/watch?v=zV0x7hKkKas

Idk what passes as "regular country" I just know a few songs I like since I don't listen to country regularly.

That song sounds really slow and not really my preference. I am sure someone likes it but it sounds like an old fashioned song.

Is this about the use of "was", or hating on country music in general? It still is great. But what parades around on the radio and high on the charts isn't country. It's pop with insulting country twang and slang.

Country went to shit after the 90s
t. 21 yo boomer

Why are all these boomer threads emphasizing "NOW"? It should be "THAT"

>20-30 year old boomers
>knowing how to meme

Haha, wojack NOW that was a meme

Oh, okay. Don't really see how that would make an entire genre bad. Dolly Parton is also a legend.

Must say I'm pretty confused about what's considered country nowadays. Most of it sounds like regular pop rock to me (Brad Paisley and such).
When I hear country music I think about banjos and twangy guitars and yodeling.
Big fan of blues and bluegrass myself.

Johnny Cash is also country. The best kind of country.

good thing it died

Are you American? The idea of a non-American enjoying country weirds me out. Most Americans don't even like country or bluegrass.

well it seems like most of country music is either cheerful roadtrip like or sad ballads

Would you prefer this kind of country? youtube.com/watch?v=XN1Sr4O4d5k

the only good country

I'd go as far as saying that Johnny Cash played his own genre of music, with a big country influence obviously. But yeah, good stuff.

Nope, I'm French. I guess I have pretty eclectic music taste. As I said I love blues but also "celtic" folk music (Planxty if I had to name one) so it probably makes sense that I'm into bluegrass as well.

Thats a fun song but its very different to my modern ears.

Country songs occasionally chart in USA. Charts more often than most genres even, there's tons of obscure type of music that USA give birth to.
