This teenage girl may be the future face of the international #MeToo movement.
> Chelsea Schiffel, 15 years old, was on a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Sydney with her mother Narelle, when she claims an elderly man sitting next to her groped her breasts. > Chelsea and her mother tried to sue United for letting the "groping" happen, and then went public to the media with her story. > United reveals in a letter that flight attendants and passengers all saw Chelsea repeatedly "crawling over" the man sitting next to her as he was trying to sleep. > United also says in the letter that Chelsea Schiffel "wore extremely short shorts" on the plane, and implied that the man may have accidentally touched the teen's breasts because she was climbing over him. > This is now a new cause for the #MeToo movement, as activists say that regardless of the truth of Chelsea's claims, the airline was "victim blaming" by bringing up what she was wearing and implying that she was "asking for it."
Is it true that "an outfit is never an invitation"? Whether her allegations are true or not, was United wrong to bring up Chelsea Schiffel's choice of clothing in its response to her claims?
It's idealistic to say clothes shouldn't matter, but that doesn't mean you can ignore reality. It's was still quite unprofessional the UA to say something like that desu.

True, a potential molester might be encouraged if a girl is wearing a very small and tight shirt vs. a sweatshirt. It looks bad for them to come out and say it though.

>that girl >a 15 year old
If yank boys wonder why they grow titties during puberty, this is the reason why. Stop drinking fucking tap water if you're a yank.
Yanks really are evolving into some kind of la creatura.
Joshua James
Do you think that Chelsea was inappropriately touched by the older man sitting next to her? Is it most likely that any touching of Chelsea Schiffel's breasts was caused by the girl repeatedly crawling over the man? Or did something else happen?
Why do women always insist on eating cake and having cake? You want to dress and act like a slut, you accept people treating you like a slut. It's that simple. I'd never expect not to be treated like a bum if I dress in a 30 year old trenchcoat with more holes than textiles.
Joshua Hughes
>eating cake and having cake?
People in English-speaking countries don't say it like that.
Aaron Price
make that the cat wise
Bentley Perez
What if the old man really did grope her? Isn't it wrong for the airline to just dismiss her like that?
Thanks from the mountain for any future corrections. Next thing you'll tell me "I'm lovin' it" is bad grammar.
Angel Rivera
>get groped by an old man >sue the airline company ???
Logan Lee
Sounds like they didn't dismiss it though. They did a little investigation.
Colton Torres
>United also says in the letter that Chelsea Schiffel "wore extremely short shorts" on the plane Oh my god, did they seriously release this statement to counteract the negative PR from this? Why can't they just once say the right thing? It's not that hard.
Chase Ward
Airline company has the money!

The published statement from UA is: 'The flight attendants and passengers also stated that you and your daughter were allowed to move to other seats several times, that Chelsea repeatedly moved in and out of her seat, crawling over the other customer who was attempting to sleep, and that your daughter wore extremely short shorts. You have provided no evidence of any negligence on the part of United regarding this matter.'

Looks like there's gonna be an opening in United's PR department soon. >We're taking this case very seriously and will be looking into it. United Airlines are great allies to spooks, gooks, nips, flips, chings, chongs, people of other colours and the OMGWTFBBQ community. >Proceed to do exactly nothing and fuck all about it unless someone begins nagging you about it That's not so fucking hard, is it?
Robert Collins
Ya it's pretty dumb, they could have handled the PR way better. Now how about some punishment for the girl if they found she made a false claim?
