Our current capital started as a Hansa trading post. Most modern technology has arrived to Sweden through Germany. We still sigh in relief if any piece of machinery is "Made in Germany", and when it works perfectly we still smile at each other and say "German Engineering Art". If we happen to get to study under a German professor, we feel at ease.

There might be a younger generation of Swedes who know nothing of these things due to a poor education and a deep disconnect between them and the older generations, but history is history and we have always been close and that will never change.

We are also the nation who feels the second most "nazi guilt".
