>Pennsylvania population
>12,8 million
>Norwegian population
>5,2 million
Isn't Pennsylvania also one of the better off states?

No not really

It's number 6, behind California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois

I'd say nr. 6 of 50 is pretty damn high.

6th in total gdp, not gdp per capita. There's quite a few states higher than Pennsylvania in gdp per capita

well yeah, but by that metric Denmark still outperforms it, although not by much at about 53417 USD vs. 51841 USD

Norway's $70812 outperforms Massachusetts, which sits at $66500 as Americas highest. Sweden, at about $51599, is about equivalent to Pennsylvania and the US Average of $51337

Norway is also incredibly rich from oil, they're no better than the arabs

>The oil meme again
Fastest growing country in Europe 30 years before we found oil, and we kept it up. The oil was just the icing on the cake, we would probably still be in the top without it.
Also the arabs and norway isn't comparable at all in how we use the profits, most of it is invested into stable and safe fields to ensure that the fund will live on long after oil stops being a valuable resource.

It has some nice parts, but most of it is terrible.
Whatever ranking you're using doesn't take into account a lot of things. Manhattan might be really well off these days, but upstate NY is deteriorating at a faster pace.

well, the ranking is GDP per capita, which doesn't take into account municipalities

I'm sure NYC fucking prints money though

>Free electricity
>we so industrious
When did Norwegians start believing that their genes don't come from lip palm?

>well, the ranking is GDP per capita, which doesn't take into account municipalities
Yeah, it makes it tough to determine how ell off these places are because the wealth is so heavily concentrated in a few areas.

As far as NYC is concerned, some parts of it are ridiculously wealthy, and others less so. I wouldn't want to spend much time in the Bronx, desu.

Here's a part by county, although it doesn't show exact figures

A lot of the time places will have high GDP not because of urbanism, but because of lack of population like Montana

>Free electricity
What? Have I missed something or do you think we have free electricity here?

lots of hydroelectric, LOTS: 97.9% in 2015
it's not free but it is relatively cheap and doesn't fuck up the air

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_sector_in_Norway#Hydroelectricity
>Hydroelectric power is the main mode of electricity production. Norway is known for its particular expertise in the development of efficient, environment-friendly hydroelectric power plants.[21] Calls to power Norway principally through hydropower emerged as early as 1892, coming in the form a letter by the former Prime Minister Gunnar Knutsen to parliament. Ninety percent of hydropower capacity is publicly owned and distributed across municipalities, counties, and states.[22] Nationwide installed capacity of hydropower amounted to 33.8 GW in 2015. The maximum working volume of hydrologic storage power plants is 85 TWh, whereas the average seasonal cycle is 42 terawatt-hours (TWh). In 2015, hydroelectricity generated 144 TWh and accounted for 97.9% of the national electricity demand.[23] In European markets, it is the single largest producer of hydropower.[24] According to the IEA, Norway generated 4.3 percent of the worldwide hydropower in 2008 and ranked 6th for that year, behind China, Canada, Brazil, the United States and Russia.[25]
>Part of the reason that so much of Norway’s electricity can be generated from hydropower is due to the natural advantage of its topography, with abundant steep valleys and rivers. Due to climate change, the region is currently experiencing heavier rainfall and is projected to receive more in the future, further increasing its capacity for hydropower.[26]

That's where I live :)

Don't worry Finland, one day they might teach you how to block up a river too. If you have any national parks you want to flood, I'd be willing to spill the American secret to our hydro electric infrastructure.

Oh you meant free as in that we're not dependent on importing electricity? It think that the statistics are kind of misleading though, if I'm not wrong it only covers home electricity and not industry, which amounts to a lot more.
