>U.S. President Donald Trump tried on Tuesday to calm a storm over his failure to hold Russian President Vladimir Putin accountable for meddling in the 2016 U.S. election, saying he misspoke in a joint news conference in Helsinki.
>“I said the word ‘would’ instead of ‘wouldn’t,’” Trump told reporters at the White House, more than 24 hours after his appearance with Putin. “The sentence should have been, ‘I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be Russia.’”
This man is a national treasure. Best U.S. president ever.
Hey I have a question for the Trumptards who lurk here. Why do trumptards call anyone who disagrees with them a “liberal”? Are dissenting opinions not allowed in the Trumptard cult? Do you have to leave the cult if you have your own opinions?

Can Trumptards answer questions themselves or do they need to wait for a response from FOX news before they can have a position on anything?

it's hilarious how magapedes can't admit they were wrong and now have to bend over backwards to make any sense of the shit trump says or does they just doubled down on retardedness

This, Trump is unironically best ally. No president has helped the EU gets it's act together and stop relying on the US as much as he. EU army when bros?
i wonder if hillary would've just ended up being another milquetoast democrat president she has the personality of a block of wood after all
if anything, we'd probably still have the same economy we do now (aside from tariffs), but with trump at least politics is more entertaining i don't like him, but at least he is kind of funny
I'm reading the full text of his remarks to see what he said. He just got back from Europe and had this to say:
on NATO: >I have helped the NATO Alliance greatly by increasing defense contributions from our NATO Allies by over $44 billion. ... they've never had an increase like this in their history, and NATO was actually going down as opposed to going up. And I increased it by my meeting last year -- $44 billion. And this year will be over -- it will be hundreds of billions of dollars over the coming years.
I thought he was supposed to lessen the money we gave to other nations … you know make them pay us 50/50 for our military protecting them or whatever his thing was
then on England and the special relationship they like to talk about:
>I also had meetings with Prime Minister May on the range of issues concerning our special relationship, and that's between the United Kingdom and ourselves. We met with the Queen, who is absolutely a terrific person, where she reviewed her Honor Guard for the first time in 70 years, they tell me. We walked in front of the Honor Guard, and that was very inspiring to see and be with her.... she was very, very inspiring indeed.
>as successful as NATO was, I think this was our most successful visit. And that had to do, as you know, with Russia. I met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing humanity. We have never been in a worse relationship with Russia than we are as of a few days ago, and I think that's gotten substantially better. And I think it has the possibility of getting much better. And I used to talk about this during the campaign. Getting along with Russia would be a good thing. Getting along with China would be a good thing. Not a bad thing; a good thing. In fact, a very good thing.
>We're nuclear powers -- great nuclear powers. Russia and us have 90 percent of the nuclear weapons. So I've always felt getting along is a positive thing, and not just for that reason.
>My meeting with President Putin was really interesting in so many different ways because we haven't had relationships with Russia for a long time. And I have felt very strongly that, while Russia's actions had no impact at all on the outcome of the election, let me be totally clear in saying that -- and I've said this many times -- I accept our intelligence community's conclusion that Russia's meddling in the 2016 election took place. Could be other people also; there's a lot of people out there.
(then he goes into a whole tangent on how when he was in Finland, he mis-spoke. On the question: did Russia try to influence the 2016 presidential election. Trump said no (even though our intelligence community said they did). Now he is saying, yes Russia tried to influence the election. So that is good to hear. Although note that he did also say above: Russia's actions had no impact at all on the outcome of the election (which of course he is going to say)
actually, it's more of what he does and says that's stupid and funny
so much for fiscal responsibility
>he Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that hourly wages have grown just 2.7 percent in the past year, though once inflation was taken into account the number fell to zero. why is inflation up anyway?

Then he continued on Russia:
>I have, on numerous occasions, noted our intelligence findings that Russians attempted to interfere in our elections. Unlike previous administrations, my administration has and will continue to move aggressively to repeal any efforts -- and repel -- we will stop it, we will repel it -- any efforts to interfere in our elections. We're doing everything in our power to prevent Russian interference in 2018.
Then he blamed Democrats for it
Then he talked about how he and Putin talked about North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Israel, nuclear weapons and all kinds of stuff and the said:
>the (US-Russia) relationships are very good. President Putin is going to be involved in the sense that he is with us. He would like to see that happen. ... dialogue with Russia, in this case, where we've had such poor relationships for so many years, dialogue is a very important thing and it's a very good thing. So if we get along with them, great. If we don't get along with them, then, well, we won't get along with them. But I think we have a very good chance of having some very positive things. I thought that the meeting that I had with President Putin was really strong. I think that they were willing to do things that, frankly, I wasn't sure whether or not they would be willing to do. And we'll be having future meetings and we'll see whether or not that comes to fruition. But we had a very, very good meeting.
>I have broken more Elton John records. He seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No, we’ve broken a lot of records. We’ve broken virtually every record. Because you know, look, I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don’t need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records. Really, we do it without, like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical – the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth, right? The brain. More important than the mouth is the brain. The brain is much more important.

and then immediately after he backtracked. Jeez he almost said it, he almost said Russia was responsible, then he had to stop himself, and say it could be anyone. So fuggin close.
William Butler
>The White House also projected that corporate profits would grow 13 percent over a decade, while employee compensation would surge 68 percent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that hourly wages have grown just 2.7 percent in the past year, though once inflation was taken into account the number fell to zero. That was us at near peak crisis. I can see how hurting trade hurts global economy, but hurting domestic consumption in the US on top of that? That has potential. That has possibilities.

I just read that again. He's saying that he's making the rest of NATO give more money. Ok so he is doing what he said he was going to do. that's interesting.
Then he continued:
>We have 29 members in NATO, as an example, and I have great relationships -- or at least very good relationships -- with everybody.
>The press covered it quite inaccurately. They said I insulted people. Well, if asking for people to pay up money that they are supposed to pay is insulting, maybe I did. But I can tell you, when I left, everybody was thrilled. And that's the way this was, too.
You're missing the entire point of what President Trump was trying to get across. He has ALWAYS accepted that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. What is FAKE is the accusation of Trump/Russia collusion, and it's becoming more and more clear that the collusion was between Hillary and Russia.
Gabriel Reyes
>We met with the Queen, who is absolutely a terrific person, where she reviewed her Honor Guard for the first time in 70 years, they tell me. youtu.be/tyBKS-rV4eE?t=43s Try to hold in your spaghetti, lads.
Lucas Robinson
Trump mentioned collusion twice at his press conference when he got home from Europe: >There was no collusion at all (between him and Russia) in the election >No collusion. (when talking about the measures he would take to keep Russia from interfering in future elections)
As for blaming it on the Dems, this is how he did that:
>As you know, President Obama was given information just prior to the election -- last election, 2016 -- and they decided not to do anything about it. The reason they decided that was pretty obvious to all: They thought Hillary Clinton was going to win the election, and they didn't think it was a big deal.
>When I won the election, they thought it was a very big deal. ... And President Obama, along with Brennan and Clapper and the whole group that you see on television now -- probably getting paid a lot of money by your networks -- they knew about Russia's attempt to interfere in the election in September, and they totally buried it. And as I said, they buried it because they thought that Hillary Clinton was going to win. It turned out it didn't happen that way.
so basically he is saying Russia concluded to support Trump, the Dems and the Press new about it but did nothing because they thought Hillary was going to win in a blow out so they didn't want to interrupt the election
Trump's last second-win came as a huge surprise to everyone. I don't know if that's because of the Russia interference or not but that was still pretty weird
>Trump's last second-win came as a huge surprise to everyone No it didn't, the media is just trying to cover up how badly they fucked up their projections. Nobody wants to admit fault for all the bullshit like sites projecting Hillary had a "99%" chance to in leading people on, or even places that published articles and magazines before the election assuming Hillary would win so they could be the first to have reported on it.
Josiah Walker
>this stupidity again
No one ever claims polls are 100% accurate. That’s why there’s a margin of error for winning and trump was within it. Also in a presidential election which isn’t truly democratic you can’t predict accurately period. It’s not a media conspiracy, you’re just a dumbass who can’t understand relevant details.
Matthew Bailey
Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you're a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.
Let’s see, I’m in my room in New York City and I want to put a little spray so that I can – right? Right? But I hear where they don’t want me to use hair spray, they want me to use the pump because the other one which I really like better than going bing, bing, bing and then it comes out in big globs, right, and you it’s stuck in your hair and you say oh my God, I’ve got to take a shower again. My hair’s all screwed up, right? I want to use hair spray. They say don’t use hair spray, it’s bad for the ozone. So I’m sitting in this concealed apartment, this concealed unit -- you know, I really do live in a very nice apartment, right? But it’s sealed, it’s beautiful. I don’t think anything gets out. And I’m not supposed to be using hair spray. But think of it. So Obama’s always talking about the global warming, that global warming is our biggest and most dangerous problem, OK? No, no, think of it. I mean, even if you’re a believer in global warming, ISIS is a big problem, Russia’s a problem, China’s a problem. We’ve got a lot of problems. By the way, the maniac in North Korea is a problem. He actually has nuclear weapons, right? That’s a problem. We’ve got a lot of problems. We’ve got a lot of problems. That’s right, we don’t win anymore. He said we want to win. We don’t win anymore. We’re going to win a lot -- if I get elected, we’re going to win a lot. We’re going to win so much we’re going to win a lot. We’re going to win a lot. We’re going to win so much you’re all going to get sick and tired of winning. You’re going to say oh no, not again. I’m only kidding. You never get tired of winning, right? Never. But think of it. So Obama’s talking about all of this with the global warming and the -- a lot of it’s a hoax, it’s a hoax. I mean, it’s a money-making industry, OK? It’s a hoax, a lot of it.
