Never have seen so many homeless people in my life and i live in Sao Paulo.
Seems a sea of homeless people.
New York alone has almost more very-high-net-worth individuals than all the rest of the world combined in Manhattan.
Why don´t they do something about this??

They do. There is a whole welfare system for the homeless in nyc. Alot of homeless people in nyc are actually homeless by choice.

No landlord wants to lower their rents as long as there are people willing to pay them.
Middle to lower classes' wages aren't rising enough to meet those rents.

Its a sad fact that many drug addicts are mentally ill or come from broken homes but the reality is only so much can be done for them. In the past these types of people would be locked in mental institutes but people thought that was inhumane so now they roam the streets and get into trouble. We can try help them get out but really theres only so much you can do to help a heroin addicted, mentally ill person.

Coming from someone who works on health in a public hospital, I can tell you that there're plenty of patients who you simply won't be able to help, even if you have therapy groups, shelter, docteurs and such working with them. And in such a densely populated area like NY, it's only natural that these people will concentrate around areas where they can get food and shelter.

Yeah these people at the mature age of 14 just chose to do this stuff while being completely shunned by their parents and societies. With their mature brains they took the choice of becoming alcoholic.

I grew up in an area that had such massive problems in the past vigilante groups formed to try and run the drug dealers out of the area, this was common all over Dublin up until the 90s.
And yeah half these people come from broken homes but what can be done? Did they get a fair start at life? No, but at the end of the day they made the choice to do drugs, others in the same situation didn't.
I know people with alcoholic parents or with aunts and uncles that died of heroin addiction. That doesn't mean they automatically became them too
its not like I've even said services or anything should be cut for the homeless or drug addicted, I just said that theres only so much that can be done before you would literally have to force them to go to social programs
I am a believer of no welfare or minimal welfare. Like you can get to a shelter if you are freezing.
Never seen any positive effects of the programs we have here that cost billions per day.

I don't really agree with the thing you are saying that they made the choice of doing drugs/alcohol. Not from norway but where I come from it starts at 12-13 and then you childhood dreams are over and you are done for.
