People who learn english as a second language seem to speak it better than native speakers.

If you are on 4chins you are not normal, but the talented 1%
Swedes love to claim they are soooo good at english, but the truth is whilst they may be good at written english, their spoken english is terrible.

I think it's because they learn grammar at an age when the boring nature of the content doesn't just shut their brain off. Or maybe because they aren't stupid burgers :DDD

I lived half of my life in the US so nauraly my english is pretty good but in general germans arent that good in english most of them know the basics but only 20% so speak it fluently but even then they almost always have extrem accents

Not many people here speak fluent English. I was just taught at a young age.

Did anyone see chinese imageboards?

>good in english
Kek

what were you doing in us?

Listening to the Golden One you can tell he can read and write well in English but his accent has hardly improved over the years.

Exactly. Im even worse.

I have a lot of family in the americas mainly in the us and peru but also a few on argentina and brazil

>Swedes love to claim they are soooo good at english,

KEKED

Oh, english education here is absolute trash
Ask any spanish poster where they learned english and we'll all answer "The Internet"

*in sorry im tired

> Only smart people go on Jow Forums, I go on Jow Forums, therefore I am very very very smart

It's a lot easier to type English than it is to speak it. The majority of JFs here probably sound like mongs when they speak it out loud.

>why do so many people here speak english
>speak
I think you mean read and write.

no, we don't learn english very well in this country, it is very rare to find someone who speaks english fluently here

Never said that. But most swedes post on swedish forums. There is already a barrier to entry seeing as this is an english forum. The second barrier to entry is the interface that a lot of people struggle with.
Im not saying we're geniuses, just not as dumb as many others

swedes are very good at english when compared to other non-native english speaker

this can mainly be attributed to the fact that Swedish TV doesn't dub movies or TV shows.

Over 50% of the entire (observable) internet is in English

It stands to reason really that people who use the internet are likely to have a fair grasp of the language. It's a bit sad to see the huge difference between it and even the 2nd most-used language (Germany at 6.3%) though.

>swedes are very good at english when compared to other non-native english speaker
why are you lying?
we're terrible.
i just listened to some swedes speaking english yesterday. sounded like the swedish chef.
danes and even norweigans are way better than us. especially the danes who have a more english sounding accent.

How are we number 2?

>speaking
I remember seeing some stats some time ago, and they said that people from Scandinavian countries had a very decent grasp of the English on average, compared to other European countries.
So what if your accent doesn't sound English? This doesn't change the fact that you're still better.

Not a special case for sure; English is a mandatory subject in all schools, from day 1. It's a shame that we're pretty horrible at it though and therefore we don't count as native English speakers.

>Chinese at 2%
It's a shame that they're in a massive intranet, that number would be in 10s otherwise.

no, you're just being stupid

i can tell that you've never been abroad

why would i leave the greatest country in the world?
i have been to denmark and norway and also st*ckholm (which i consider to be a foreign country).

Wonder how the ratios would change if all Chinese content were available.

It may be true for third worlders

None of you, except for rich Poos, speak it at home as an actual first language, that’s why.

30s, actually. China already has more internet users than the entire Anglosphere, and they're even more addicted to the internet.

Isn't this a proxy for language relevance?

case and point then

try visiting France, Germany, Italy, or any other non northern European country, and you'll realize how good Swedes are at english

this honestly
listening to the vocaroo threads proved this

I am a brainlet wop and I can't even type it good lmao

*type it well

agreed your english accent is horrible and you dont know how to say o correct

You have to go back samir

Does any european here who isn't from the UK wanna show off there english accent?

I went to elementary school in America. I was taught by expert ESL teachers, every single day in school for 3 years at no extra cost.

God Bless NJ

That doesn't matter, their accent is fucked up nevertheless. And having an accent isn't a bad thing, but we literally pronounce words in a way that they're incomprehensible, and it's a combo of british and american accents + curry induced braps. Same for the spelling too.

Fine go ahead and be the ignant gag that u r

Even more unforgivable than having a bad accent is having a bad fake accent. Makes me want to punch people.

People on Jow Forums try hard to speak English as well as possible so they can make friends from many different countries.

what's the difference?

Good is an adjective. Well is an adverb.

....
..what's the difference?

What's the internet connection like in fucking Nepal?

Adjectives can be used as adverbs.
It was so in ancient greek, it was so in latin, it is so in Italian, I don't see why English should be special.
Yes I've seen all the jokes in movies and cartoons, and they're wrong.
"write it well" and "write it good" are both correct.

Adverbs are descriptive of the action of the verb (strongly, quickly, softly).

Adjectives are descriptive of nouns (strong, quick, soft).

"Scrivilo correttamente" =/= "Scrivilo corretto"

Type is a verb. You don't use an adjective to describe a verb. 'Type good' doesn't make any sense. You can 'type well'.

Probably better than Aus lmao.
10mbps unlimited for $15 a month at home. Currently at a uni hostel, can get upto 10 MiB/s download speed. Used to be pretty shitty a few years ago, but it's better now that we've got fiber.

>Adverbs are descriptive of the action of the verb
holy shit so that's why they are called ad-VERBS. YOU OPENED MY MIND

I don't think anyone would accept "write it good" as proper English.

So if even Latin was like, how _did_ English come to be so special?

That's actually what I'm at rightish though way more expensive, I'd say around 12mbps, though all through my childhood and teenage years we only had 500-800kb.

I remember downloading Flash 8 as a kid at 20 KiB/s.
