Monero is currently the only crypto that functions exactly like digital cash without a set of caveats to the privacy that entails. There are some growing pains and drawbacks that go along with that but the fact that the ledger is private and the coin is trustless means that it will end up seeing widespread adoption as development continues. Rule of thumb: follow the DNM money.

The Cryptonote protocol that Monero is built on is completely different than Bitcoin's protocol so even though it is a few years old, it's still lagging behind a lot of Bitcoin based coins in its development because literally everything about it has to be done from scratch (i.e. hardware wallets, GUI and mobile wallets, website integration, etc.) There is nothing about Monero that can be copy and pasted from previously completed open source work which can be done for just about every Bitcoin derivative.

On top of that, the team is committed to keeping the coin's development completely trustless and open source, so there are absolutely no shortcuts since it's all community funded. That's why I said wait a few years. There are other Cryptonote imitators out there but none of them have the brainpower and respect that Monero does.

Yeaaa, me too, pretty much. I mean honestly, there is pretty much 0 chance that this shit won't hit its former ATH, so I still think we're good.

From a technical standpoint, once they implement their p2p IP concealing network, this shit will go interstellar. It's also my biggest holding, but I also wish to increase my stack in the long run. If it dips, I'll buy more.

It's a fork but no free coins were issued. No premine hence the scarcity. Notable because the dev contributed upstream to Monero in a helpful way
