As someone who enjoys it here, I'm very glad we have such a bad reputation with the other states. As it stands, the only real tourists we have to deal with are dipshits from NY, PA, and CT going to the shore in the summer (lord knows they shit up the roads enough by not knowing how driving works here), but because of all the jokes and rumors, everyone else stays out. Shit is excellent.
