Haiti is technically part of Latin America, but would you actually consider them Latin American? Do Haitians themselves even consider themselves to be Latin American?
Are Haitians Latin American?

Yes
Latin America has become synonymous with Hispanic America + Brazil (because they’re very relevant). Technically they are but I don’t think most Latinos consider them part of it. They’re culturally too different
Latin America is a geographical region defined by language. It's not a matter of "culture" beyond language, and much less about ethnicity.
Haiti is a part of Latin America.
It's a shithole so I guess it counts
You're the guy who made this thread yesterday?
No.
Hatian Creole is not a Latin Language.
It is user. French is the language it"s based off
yes, quebec is latin american too
Quebec is not a country.
>based-of
Shouldn't count desu
Um, no.
so?
um yes sweatie
It should be, but it isn't.

He actually did, the absolute madman
>Do Haitians themselves even consider themselves to be Latin American?
Some do. Some don’t. But majority don’t.
Are you Haitian?
They consider themselves West Indian, culturally aligned with Jamaica, Trinidad, and smaller Francophone and English speaking Caribbean islands.
t. Grew up with Haitians in Miami
It definitely is. Indio countries don't understand that, but Haitian culture and history was and is a very important part of the struggle and identities of Black Latin Americans.
You aren't Black, and there isn't any Black country in Latin America besides Haiti
They are not, i dont think of them as brothers, they genocided all of their whites and mulattos just so they could create a black ethnostate fantasy which failed horribly, they choza to mor be party le us.
>they choza to mor be party le us
What?
they are chileans now, 10,000 of them every day
Ye
That's what I suspected as well.
Interesting. I'm more surprised that some do. Do most Haitians actually know they're included in Latin America?
It technically is, and so would Quebec if it were independent, but colloquially, it isn't.
You're retarded user. Haitians don't have any spanish or native blood, they're africans and their language is retarded slave french.
They litterly have nothing to do with latin america...
fucking apes ;_;
kek what
if that were accurate you would have the entire Haitian population in less than 2 years
Not really. Most think Latin American = Hispanics so don’t consider themselves Latino. Haitians see themselves closer to the Francophone Caribbean. They’re closest to us culturally and we can even understand each other’s creoles.
Do you also feel close to Anglo Caribbeans? Are Haitians counted as Latino in the US?
Haitians have pretty much stopped coming due to visa restrictions, he's just exaggerating. All that's left to deal with is potentially the families of those who made it here which could be a problem.
>Do you also feel close to Anglo Caribbeans?
Depends on who you ask. Personally I don’t really but I feel closer to Jamaicans than I do Dominicans, Cubans, Puerto Rican’s etc.
>Are Haitians counted as Latino in the US?
No.
French is a language derived from latin like spanish or portuguese, even part of Canada is ""technically" latin american. Of course no one actually includes them as latins because they're too distant to the latin sphere of influence.
What do Haitians think of African Americans?
Everyone has their own opinions (some like them sone don’t ) My dad doesn’t like them but I have nothing against them.
Why do some dislike them? Do Haitians ever mix with them?
Latin America is brown (mixed) not black (nigger) !!!!!!
>Why do some dislike them?
Not everyone is going to get along user that’s just how ppl are.
>Do Haitians ever mix with them?
Some do.
I’ve never met a Haitian desu. Do you all live in Florida?
I’d say a good majority live in Florida but there’s sizable communities in NY, Boston, and Jersey. Most stay confined to the East Coast, the west coast is very foreign to us. Like only a couple people in my family have been to the West Coast even though they’ve lived in the US for several decades now.
Well, I guess it’s logical since Haiti is closer to East Coast. Interestingly, the only Haitian in Congress is from Utah, a Republican, a Mormon and married to a white guy.
What do Haitians think about Trump taking away your special status? Are many Haitians going back?
>Interestingly, the only Haitian in Congress is from Utah, a Republican, a Mormon and married to a white guy
Interesting I learned something new today. First time I’ve ever heard of a Mormon Haitian.
>What do Haitians think about Trump taking away your special status? Are many Haitians going back?
A lot think it’s fucked up. Idk how many are going back tho.
Yeah, I was kinda perplexed by it, too when I found out, cause I think most Haitians are Democrats, right? Or maybe I’m wrong cause on the other hand I’ve also heard about Haitians disliking Democrats cause of Hilary Clinton but I don’t know too much about that.
>Idk how many are going back tho.
Do you think it’s possible many will try to stay regardless of what Trump said? I imagine not many want to get back.
>I think most Haitians are Democrats, right? Or maybe I’m wrong cause on the other hand I’ve also heard about Haitians disliking Democrats cause of Hilary Clinton but I don’t know too much about that.
Haitians are actually really conservative but vote Democrat because we’re Black. If we were White like Cubans we’d probably vote republican.
We don’t like Hilary and the Clinton family cause they’ve done a lot of messed up things in Haiti.
>Do you think it’s possible many will try to stay regardless of what Trump said? I imagine not many want to get back.
Probably. Idk how immigration stuff works though
Are Haitians mostly Catholic? Protestant? Or do you guys practice voodoo?
>they’ve done a lot of messed up things in Haiti.
What have they done desu? Don’t know much about it.
Most are Catholic/Protestant. Only a very tiny amount of the population practices Vodun.
>What have they done desu? Don’t know much about it.

I’m gonna go to sleep now. Hope I could answer your questions about Haitians.
the weirder cases of latin america are the british caribbean islands where they still speak french/creoles (dominica, grenada, st lucia etc), or have some cursory knowledge of spanish: (trinidad and jamaica)
We don't consider those Latin America
Thanks for the links and all the info. Goodnight.

The BBC groups all of the Caribbean with Latin America for some reason
Interesting.
