Why is there such a big difference between South East Asian countries?
I looked at them on google street view and I noticed there's a group of countries that look very well, infrastructure is decent, roads in good condition, neighborhoods look wealthy etc. - it includes Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia; and there is a group of countries that look totally Africa-tier, everything is run down, just like one big slum, like the Philippines, Bangladesh, while Cambodia and Laos (the parts available on google street view) are somewhere in between.
I see that this doesn't have much to do with GDP per capita, because while Malaysia or Thailand are relatively well off, Sri Lanka or Indonesia are rather poor. Is it mentality? Colonial influence?

A big reason why Vietnam is so different is because of extensive Polish influence. The Viets in Poland study the habits and skills Poles use (via extensive stalking), and relay it back to their mother country. I predict that within 20-25 years, Vietnam will look like an exact copy of Poland.

I think it comes down to mentality, I guess. I just hate when there are new facilities, people don't bother to use it (very common in Bandung) and vandalised them. Thing seems getting better to be honest. For example, local taxi drivers were used to be anti of online transportations but now they're starting to imbrace it.
Some place here are really nice, some place just stress you out everyday. I would say Bandung is the worst place to live in Indonesia because 1. Traffic jams caused by jakartafags, 2. Textile industry, 3. Slum in southern area. Although there are some nice place in Bandung, they're far away in the north and full of local tourists. The comfy place I used to live on several months ago is in Magelang, central java. It's chill, comfy, catholic central, and basically a hub central. Bali is great to visit except SUMMER. Jakartafags and foreigners flock there and traffic jams everywhere. And also the risk of being scammed is higher than usual.

I don't know much about Vietnamese in Vietnam but the ones in Poland are very hard working, no matter if they work in blue collar jobs, sell stuff in markets, run bars or work in business, they work very hard. We admire them, the only problem with them is that their communities are often governed by local mafias and Vietnamese people have to bribe them to get a permission to run a business and the Polish government doesn't really want to enforce our laws there, they have an approach "as long as they pay taxes and don't kill Poles, we don't care what happens inside their communities".
I compare random views, most of Malays or Thais live in nice houses, while Koreans live packed like sardines in commieblocks or tiny houses with bad infrastructure around.
