Man, my brother and I had this friend Mikey, he was an alcoholic for years. He drank over a handle a day of liquor. Whenever he woke up in the morning he threw up because his body had been several hours without alcohol.

Our friend Anna is wealthy and let him move to her apartment for a bit to come down off alcohol (she lives 3 states away). He only drank a bottle or two of wine per day (which was a huge decrease for him) and he was doing well. Then suddenly he got jaundice and had to go to the hospital.
His liver had just shut down. We were thinking "this sucks because he just started doing well" but now I realize the sudden decrease in alcohol had made his liver do that.
