that's what hurts. everyone on here spoke English by the time they were my age, in addition to their native language, because it was either necessary for them, expected of them, or otherwise in their best interests to do so since they have everything to gain from knowing the global language.
I'll never have the proper motivation to learn another language unless I somehow find a partner in another country. as much as I enjoy learning a language, the motivation that comes prospect of being able to annoy someone in their native tongue for a few minutes doesn't last long enough to carry me through the challenge of learning it. especially when it most likely would be easier for both of us to just stick to English and everyone will probably prefer to do that anyway since they'll always have a better reason to want to practice English than I have to practice their language.
I don't like it. it makes me feel mentally handicapped. I lack a basic skill most people in the world have as a matter of course.
