Carriers are absolutely necessary for any power projection beyond home waters. Heck, even humanitarian aid is far more efficient if you can use a carrier to deliver it.

so what? We don't do unilateral military missions since WW2 (and aren't allowed to do it). Everything our military does is in accordance with other morem powerful allies. Why should we waste money on a carrier if they can do it?

It's quite good but after the end of the Cold War we lack ASW capabilities, so we definitely need extra ASW/multipurpose frigates and some maritime patrol aircraft to replace the P-3 Orions we sold to Germany

Other than that, a big modernisation programme is coming up and the Navy is getting an extra combat support ship, 2x multipurpose frigates, 6x MCM vessels and 4x new AIP submarines
