Kokie didžiausi skirtumai tarp tarmių Lietuvoje?

Didžiausi skirtumai tarp aukštaičių ir žemaičių. Žemaičiai mėgsta trumpint žodžių galūnes. Pavyzdžiui pienas - piens, arba pas žemaičius vietoj o, ė taria uo, ie, pvz brolis - bruolis, tėvas - tievs.

Thank you, Norgebro.

Here are some translation exercises to start people off, based on the recent 'Blood Moon' in Europe.

Basic sentence construction
> This is an eclipse.
> The moon was red
> We saw the Earth's penumbra.
> Mars will be very close to Earth.
> Has there been a longer eclipse?

The passive voice
> Astronomers are excited by this.
> The moon was covered by Earth's shadow.
> The inner planets will have been aligned.
> A clear sky was needed in Britain to see the rising moon.

Subordinate clauses
> Where the skies were clear, the spectacle was visible almost everywhere.
> You did not need a telescope to see this
> Professor O'Brien said that this was as long as a lunar eclipse could be.

The subjunctive mood
If the sky were cloudy, we should not be able to see the blood moon.
It might have been worth it, if I could get myself out of bed for long enough.

What's the best flash card program for Dutch?

>Nous avons vu il pénombre de la terre
Not quite.
It'd be more: Nous avons vu la pénombre de la Terre
'il' doesn't work because it's not designating a person, nor is it used in the 'il-y-a' form.

>Mars sera très proche à la terre
Again, it's working in english but the french are pedantic about their words.
It'd be: Mars sera très proche de la Terre
Because Mars doesn't belong to the earth, nor does its distance belong to it.

>Les astronautes sont excités par cette
Here, it sounds like you didn't finish your sentence, you'd replace 'cette' by 'ceci' or 'cela'.
Either way works.

>Les planètes intérieures aura été aligné
Here, you've made a conjugation error and forgot to qualify the planet as female, careful about that, you don't want to misgender them.
It'd be: Les planètes intérieures auront été alignées
You forgot conditional future and put conditional present instead. And qualified the planets as male. 'ée' if you're talking about female things.

And other than that, it's good.
Good job my dude.

I use Anki and use post-it notes on things to reinforce learning. There's heaps of premade decks too but mostly for intermediate learners.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Probably butchered those. Couldn’t find the word for penumbra, so I used shadow instead.

>La luna fue rojo
La luna estaba roja
>Nosotros vimos a la tierra de sombra
(Nosotros) vimos la penumbra de la Tierra

Thank you Chilebro. I still have a lot to learn.

Also Spanish or French for first romance language?

French

I'm thinking about learning Mandarin Chinese. I've found Tones and Characters quite difficult. Is there an easy way to learn them? Or is it just practice, practice, practice?

Spanish has a lot less arbitrary nonsense and is more useful

Spanish is a spic language and everyone who speaks it is trash. French is a sophisticated, rich language for true man of culture.

Basic sentence construction
> Het is an eclips
> De maan was rood
> Heeft er en langere eclips geweest?

The passive voice
>in Britanië, er was een heldere lucht nodig zodat we de maan konden zien

Subordinate clauses
> Wanneer de lucht helder was, was het schouwspel bijna overal zichtbaar

Granted.

Seriously though what are even you reasons for learning one?

Also (I'm sure at least the last two are wrong), but I'm curious if it is incorrect to use "wanneer" in that context. Should I have said "Toen de lucht helder was" instead?

I'm interested in French history in North America, I like the sound of the language, and I like the way it looks written.

But Spanish keeps nagging at me in the back of my mind because I think I would get to actually use it more irl and as such reach a higher level in it. I fear studying French will end up like German where I only get to converse online.

Kek

You'll honestly probably not even use Spanish as much in real life as you'd think unless there's special circumstances I'm not aware of

There are many ways to use your foreign language that don't require direct speech, you can use apps like hellotalk to chat with natives and you can still consume the countries' movies, movies, books etc.

Why is it so hard for new words to sink into my long term memory? I barely feel like I can sit still and focus long enough to retain any.

> Het is een eclips
> De maan was rood
Both are correct.
Wanneer translates the best into 'when'.
Wanneer de lucht helder was - When the sky...
Toen de lucht helder was - When the sky...
But toen can also mean 'then': Toen gebeurde het - Then it happend.

What does that little post script say at the bottom right page?

To nip confusion in the bud. opkomende and stijgende are synonymous.

You should see the comments under any of their videos 50% is my beard grew 40% lmao I feel like I am in Scandinavia stroking my beard

I don't like modern music and good (to my tastes) dutch music is hard to find. Boudewijn de groot (rip? maybe) is one I can endorse:

This song is one of the oldest dutch songs which survived the oral tradition and got recorded. it dates back to 1300.
The dutch in the video is not medieval but it is older and was written down by a flemish writer.
